Preserving and promoting the value of indigenous knowledge

NDO - On January 17, at the National Architectural and Artistic Relic Site of Saint Nguyen Temple, Tien Thang Commune, the People's Committee of Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province organized a tourism promotion program "Finding the Roots" with the theme "Zen-Medicine" in 2025.

At the program, delegates participated in the experience of walking meditation to pick medicinal herbs in the "Medicinal Garden of Life at Saint Nguyen Temple"; along with medicinal activities such as: taking care of medicinal herbs, picking medicinal herbs, preparing medicinal herbs, roasting medicinal herbs, packing herbal scented bags...; offering incense at Saint Nguyen Temple, listening to explanations about Saint Nguyen Temple; meditating on tea and enjoying local culture; planting yellow camellia trees as souvenirs at the national historical site of Kiem Linh Mountain.

"The medicinal garden of Nguyen Temple" with more than 100 precious medicinal plants, aims to preserve and develop semi-mountainous medicinal herbs associated with experiential tourism in Gia Vien district.

Through the program to honor Saint Nguyen - the famous Zen Master, National Master, a high monk who headed the Buddhist organization of the Ly Dynasty in history; one of two real people who were canonized as Saints and the founder of bronze casting and Vietnamese Medicine.

At the same time, we hope to bring an experience and reminder of traditional medicines used in daily life to bring health to the body, mind and spirit of visitors; preserve and promote the traditional identity of the locality to effectively exploit the potential of socio -economic strengths and cultural characteristics of Gia Vien land and people.

The program has the participation of Miss Vietnam Tourism 2022 Luong Ky Duyen.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province, Vu Thi Duoc, said that in the coming time, the district will step up propaganda and promotion as well as guide tourists to experience the "Zen-Medicine" tour in depth and have many programs to restore the space of ancient medicine to bring to tourists, especially young people, to enhance traditionaleducation for students in schools through practical experience activities in the locality.

From there, build a foundation to expand tourism development links, create opportunities for travel businesses to learn, expand markets, build and develop new tours to introduce to tourists inside and outside the province; research, preserve, restore and apply meditation in parallel with herbal development in community health tourism.
