In a post on China's WeChat messaging app, CAAM said Chinese automakers had cooperated with the European Commission's (EC) investigation into Chinese government subsidies, but the investigation had ignored the facts and produced pre-selected results.
The EU has imposed tariffs of up to 37.6% on electric vehicles imported from China starting from July 5, 2024, with a four-month interim period and in-depth discussions expected between the two sides.
The temporary tariffs of 17.4% to 37.6% imposed by the EU on electric cars imported from China, which are not retroactive, are designed to stem the “wave” of cheap Chinese electric cars, produced with state subsidies, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
