Bat Trang builds a drug-free commune

At the conference, Vice Chairman of Bat Trang Commune People's Committee Duong Dang Hoa said: Over the past years, the work of drug prevention and control has always received attention, leadership and direction from the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and the commune's mass organizations. The core role of the commune police force, together with the participation of the Party Committee, the government, the villages and the consensus of the people, has contributed to maintaining security, order and social safety, and building a healthy and civilized living environment.

However, the drug situation in the whole country still has potential complications. Bat Trang commune is not a key, complicated area for drugs, but with the geographical location bordering other provinces, there are craft villages with extensive trade, leading to an increase and mechanical fluctuation in population, attracting criminals from other places to the area, posing potential risks to security and order, especially drug-related crimes.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Hong Minh, Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department ( Hanoi City Police) also said: Compared to the population residing in the area, Bat Trang commune has a rate of drug addicts and illegal drug users with management records of less than 0.03%, the rate of drug criminals arrested is less than 0.04%. Therefore, the commune is identified as a drug-free area, according to the criteria issued in Decision No. 28/2025/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Regarding the results of drug detection, arrest, and crimes, from July 15, 2024 to October 31, 2025, Bat Trang Commune Police arrested and prosecuted 6 cases, 11 subjects for buying, selling, and organizing illegal drug use; seized 0.213g of heroin, 53.896g of methamphetamine, 32.242g of ketamine; and filed records to send 26 subjects to drug rehabilitation. Currently, Bat Trang Commune has no risk points or complicated points regarding drugs.

The Commune Police also stepped up propaganda and education on drug prevention and control laws and the harmful effects of drugs; mobilized people to participate in the drug prevention and control movement right from their families and communities; proactively implemented regulations in coordination with district departments, agencies and branches to strengthen propaganda work to the people.

At the conference, Bat Trang commune deployed the Drug Prevention and Control Program until 2030. To concretize the program's goals, the commune organized a signing of commitments between the government, departments, organizations, businesses, and villages in the area, to improve efficiency and join hands in implementing drug prevention and control work in the locality.
