On the afternoon of December 9, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province held the first consultation conference to agree on the structure, composition, and number of candidates to be nominated for the 16th National Assembly in Lao Cai province and the 17th Lao Cai Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031.
Pursuant to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the expected number and composition of the 16th National Assembly deputies, the number of National Assembly deputies residing and working in Lao Cai province, the province elected 6 deputies.
Based on the actual situation, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province plans to have a total of 29 candidates and allocate them specifically to agencies, organizations, units, and localities.
After discussion and giving opinions, 100% of the delegates attending the conference unanimously approved the agreement on the structure, composition, and expected number of people to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly in Lao Cai province for agencies to implement according to regulations.
Among them, ethnic minorities nominated as candidates include 10 people representing the three ethnic groups Mong, Tay and Dao in the province.
Also at the conference, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province held the first consultation conference to agree on the structure, composition, and number of candidates to be nominated for election as delegates to the People's Council of Lao Cai province, term XVII, 2026-2031.
The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province agreed to submit to the conference for consultation and agreement on the expected structure, composition and number of candidates for the 17th Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.
According to the report, the number of delegates from organizations, units, agencies in the province and localities recommended to run for the 17th Provincial People's Council is 61; the total number of people expected to be recommended to run is 151 and will be specifically allocated to local agencies, organizations, and units representing political blocs, unions, commune and ward levels, and business blocs...
After discussion, 100% of the delegates attending the conference agreed to adjust the overall structure and composition of the recommended people to a total of 153 people recommended to run for the 17th Provincial People's Council in Lao Cai province; agreed to adjust and add the Nghia Tam and Thuong Bang La commune clusters to Tran Yen and Quy Mong communes; add the Cam Nhan and Yen Thanh communes to the Yen Bai, Au Lau and Van Phu ward clusters.
The delegates voted to approve the agreement on the structure, composition, and expected number of people to be nominated as candidates for the 17th Provincial People's Council for the organizing agencies to implement according to regulations.
On the same morning, the Lao Cai Provincial Election Committee also held a conference to deploy and provide guidance on the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels of Lao Cai province for the 2026-2031 term./.
