After the match at Thong Nhat Stadium on the evening of February 8th, the Thanh Hoa players received more good news, including a Tet bonus, and a surprising 2-1 victory against the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club.
Mr. Nguyen Van De (also known as " bầu Đệ," former chairman of Thanh Hoa Club) sent a message to coach Mai Xuan Hop to praise the fighting spirit of his former team. He also awarded Thanh Hoa Club 300 million VND.
"The team played very well today. You led the players to play in the true spirit of the people of Thanh Hoa. I am very proud of you and will donate 300 million VND from the Hop Luc Corporation fund," he wrote.
The former club president also hopes that Thanh Hoa FC will successfully avoid relegation. Mr. De, who had run Thanh Hoa football for several periods, officially stepped down at the end of 2020.
Mr. Đệ's successor, club owner Cao Tiến Đoan, is currently under arrest for investigation related to his personal business dealings. As a result, the club's finances and bank accounts are "frozen," causing difficulties for Thanh Hóa football team.

Thanh Hoa FC was also banned by FIFA from registering new players for three consecutive transfer windows. The reason is that they were sued by four foreign players for not completing financial procedures after terminating their contracts.

However, the Lunar New Year holiday only lasts about two weeks. Thanh Hoa Club doesn't have the money to pay off its debts to have FIFA's ban lifted, so they have bigger worries than just the Lunar New Year bonus.
On February 24th, Thanh Hoa FC will host Hanoi Police FC in Round 14 of the V-League 2025-2026.
