Two hospitals are rushing to complete and install equipment systems.
On December 8, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long inspected and supervised the construction of the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital in Ninh Binh province.
According to the report of the Ministry of Health , contractors have actively constructed and completed items, and deployed the reception and installation of medical equipment at the Bach Mai Hospital 2 project.
Currently, contractors are deploying the supply and installation of a number of equipment (CT, MRI, DSA, X-ray machines, ultrasound knives for liver tumor surgery, hospital beds, digital angiography systems with background subtraction...) out of a total of 82 medical equipment of Bach Mai Hospital, branch 2 and 83 medical equipment of Viet Duc Hospital, branch 2.
Medical equipment for testing activities at Bach Mai Hospital has also been installed and tested. It is expected that by December 18, additional equipment such as a CT scan system, a specimen casting system, a specimen transfer machine, a real-time PCR machine, etc. will be completed before December 25.
Regarding Bach Mai Hospital 2, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan said that it is basically on schedule, ready to inaugurate and partially put into use on December 19.
The contractor is currently rushing to complete some of the remaining work.
The two hospitals have developed detailed plans, prepared adequate human resources, and have plans to transfer equipment between the two facilities to be ready to receive and operate the hospital as soon as it is handed over.
Bach Mai Hospital Director Dao Xuan Co said the hospital assigned more than 600 staff from facility 1 to facility 2 with a specific list submitted to the Ministry of Health, with full specialties.
The hospital has recruited 600 staff to send to Bach Mai facility 1 for training, and has assigned a permanent deputy head of department to facility 2. There are a series of preferential policies for staff working at Bach Mai 2 such as salary increase, bonus, and priority appointment.
The hospital is ready to receive and put into operation the second facility with more than 325 beds and complete two emergency operating rooms to serve the people immediately after the inauguration.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized the inauguration of the construction of the second facility of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals on December 19.
This event contributes to the general atmosphere of the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of large-scale and meaningful projects and works on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of National Resistance Day and welcoming the 14th National Congress of the Party for the 2025-2030 term.
However, the Deputy Prime Minister also reminded Viet Duc Hospital to be more proactive to achieve clearer results. At the same time, he noted that the inauguration of the new construction is just one step, after that there is still much work to do, and the progress must be accelerated, "not just stopping here to breathe a sigh of relief". It is necessary to continue to be highly determined and set more progress milestones.
At the end of 2014, the second facility of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospital in Phu Ly City (formerly Ha Nam) was started to be built and is expected to be the two largest modern hospitals ever built. This is also the first time our country has a hospital built and operated according to international standards.
In October 2018, the examination areas of both facilities were officially inaugurated.
However, after that, only the examination area of Bach Mai Hospital was put into use for a period of time from March 2019 to March 2020 and then announced a temporary suspension of operations. Meanwhile, Viet Duc Hospital, branch 2, also only stopped at the ribbon cutting ceremony and never received patients.
The two hospitals have a capacity of 1,000 beds/hospital; floor area of 100,000m²/hospital. Total investment is nearly 5,000 billion VND/hospital.
