Dr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh, Director of the hospital, said: Ha Dong General Hospital is a Grade I hospital under the Hanoi Department of Health, with a scale of 828 planned beds and 858 actual beds. The hospital has a total of 43 departments and 3 units, with a staff of more than 900 officers, civil servants and workers.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the hospital received and examined and treated more than 222,000 people; provided outpatient treatment for nearly 24,000 people and inpatient treatment for more than 14,000 patients, with a bed occupancy rate of more than 105%.
In recent times, the hospital has paid special attention to developing information technology infrastructure in each phase, applying smart software solutions to improve the efficiency of medical examination and treatment.
At the same time, the hospital has also invested in and upgraded infrastructure equipment such as servers, firewalls, information storage systems, queue number display screens, digital signature systems, electronic signatures and cashless payments using QR codes.

Notably, the server room is fully equipped with specialized equipment such as: Fire protection system, electrical cabinet, UPS, air conditioner, surveillance camera, temperature and humidity monitoring equipment, backup storage system...
Specifically, at the Examination Department, the hospital has put into use an automatic number-taking kiosk; a self-registration kiosk using a chip-embedded citizen ID card and looking up information, and deployed an app for going to the clinic. Implementing interconnection and data sharing with social insurance agencies to serve the settlement of medical examination and treatment costs under health insurance, moving towards managing the entire medical examination and treatment process without using paper records.
In addition, hospital information management software (HIS), laboratory testing system (LIS), and imaging diagnostic system (RIS) are integrated and interconnected with social insurance agencies, and the PACS system connects imaging diagnostic devices.
Based on the actual survey of the information technology infrastructure, checking the HIS, LIS, RIS, PACS systems in some clinical and paraclinical departments; the hospital's information technology system. The Appraisal Council unanimously voted to recognize Ha Dong General Hospital as qualified to completely replace paper medical records.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung emphasized: The application of electronic medical records not only helps doctors and medical staff look up and update patient information conveniently, but also improves the quality of treatment and health care for people. At the same time, the electronic medical record system also helps save operating costs and reduce the pressure of storing paper records.
In particular, replacing paper medical records with electronic medical records helps reduce processing time and increases convenience in professional work of departments and medical staff.

To meet the requirements of the digital transformation phase, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung hopes that each medical staff needs to change their working perspective and mindset, shifting from the traditional model to the digital model. Therefore, the implementation of electronic medical records will gradually digitize the medical examination and treatment process, helping people register for examination faster, reduce waiting time, and manage medical records on the software.
According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Health, up to now, Hanoi has 17/42 public hospitals that have completed the implementation of electronic medical records, including: Xanh Pon General Hospital; Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology; Hanoi Oncology; Dong Anh General Hospital; Van Dinh General Hospital; Hoe Nhai General Hospital; Soc Son General Hospital; Ba Vi General Hospital; Quoc Oai General Hospital; My Duc General Hospital; Hanoi Pediatrics; Phu Xuyen General Hospital; Hoai Duc General Hospital; Vietnam-Cuba Friendship; Me Linh General Hospital; Nam Thang Long; Ha Dong General Hospital.
