Vietnam's first traditional medicine hospital to achieve ISO 15189:2022 certification

SKĐS - On November 11, Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine announced that its laboratory has achieved ISO 15189:2022 certification (VLAM 1.0631 - AOSC Vietnam) - the leading international standard for the capacity and quality of medical laboratories. This is the first traditional medicine hospital in the country to achieve this certification.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Specialist II Do Tan Khoa - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine said that achieving ISO 15189:2022 standard is a continuous effort in standardizing testing capacity; reflecting the hospital's serious investment in infrastructure, quality management and technology application with the goal of constantly improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.

This is the result of more than 45 years of continuous efforts, marking an important step forward in the journey of improving service quality, modernizing processes and standardizing expertise according to international standards.

"Not only serving modern diagnostic work, test results also help traditional medicine doctors personalize treatment, scientifically combining Eastern and Western medicine, bringing comprehensive effectiveness to patients," Dr. Khoa shared.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Specialist II Do Tan Khoa - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine and leaders of the hospital's Laboratory received ISO 15189:2022 certification.

According to Dr. Do Tan Khoa, ISO 15189:2022 certification is one of the foundations for the hospital to promote the development of specialized techniques in disease treatment, production of traditional medicine and development of medical tourism.

With its existing strengths, the hospital is currently completing the High-Tech Medical Tourism Center Project, with four unique experiential spaces.

This is a medicinal and health product space, displaying and introducing medicinal products, health protection foods, and medicinal herbs typical of localities, prioritizing OCOP standards. Along with that is a space for experiencing the preparation and decoction of medicines, where tourists can observe and participate in the process of decocting and packaging their own medicines.

Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital also has a treatment and therapy space that recreates the Southern style with a typical river landscape. In addition, the rehabilitation and beauty space focuses on two key specialties: pain treatment and skin care, and traditional medicine beauty is also one of the highlights that attracts tourists.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health praised the efforts of the Traditional Medicine Hospital to meet hospital quality management standards as the first traditional medicine hospital in the country to achieve ISO 15189:2022 certification.

Along with that, the High-Tech Medical Tourism Center Project that the hospital is implementing promises to become a medical tourism destination attracting tourists with its own characteristics and strengths.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health praised the efforts of the Hospital of Traditional Medicine.

In the coming time, the leaders of the Department of Health suggested that the hospital should continue to develop in a specialized direction, linking with the remaining 3 traditional medicine hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City (Institute of Traditional Medicine, Binh Duong Traditional Medicine Hospital, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Traditional Medicine Hospital) to build a traditional medicine network from specialized to grassroots.

In particular, in the context of the constantly increasing population aging rate, the Ho Chi Minh City Health Department is building a comprehensive care project for the elderly, focusing on developing nursing home models and daytime care models for the elderly.

Traditional medicine and rehabilitation are two indispensable fields in the care of the elderly. Therefore, this is both an opportunity and a responsibility of the hospital in its mission of caring for and protecting people's health in the spirit of Resolution 72 of the Politburo.
