Obesity 'silent epidemic' and dangerous complications

Obesity is a complex chronic disease, associated with more than 200 health complications (cardiovascular, stroke, sleep apnea, etc.). Vietnam is witnessing a rapid increase in overweight and obesity of 38%, among the countries with the highest growth rate in Southeast Asia.

In order to raise public awareness about obesity, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment will organize an online consultation session on the topic "Obesity and some related diseases" at 10:00 a.m. on December 10, 2025.

The program is led by: Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management ( Ministry of Health ); Prof. Dr. Pham Manh Hung, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Hanoi Medical University, President of the Southeast Asian Cardiology Federation; Dr. Phan Thanh Thuy, Respiratory Center, Bach Mai Hospital.

The program is part of the cooperation framework to improve health capacity between the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health), the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, and Novo Nordisk Vietnam Company.
