Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van, Secretary of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, presented gifts to students at the meeting and dialogue.
At the dialogue, Mr. Huynh Van Long, Principal of Ly Son High School, said that in the past 5 years, the school had 19-20 classes, but only 8 classrooms, so it encountered difficulties in teaching and learning. This is a cause of frustration for parents and students on Ly Son Island.
Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van, Secretary of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, spoke at the meeting and dialogue.
"I request the Provincial Party Secretary to pay attention to directing the relevant agencies to speed up the construction progress of Ly Son High School," said Mr. Long.
Mr. Long also said that for many years, although working in the same island district, the school's teachers and staff have enjoyed less benefits and policies than the district's officials and civil servants.
Mr. Huynh Van Long, Principal of Ly Son High School, mentioned the school's difficulties.
At the request of the Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, a representative of the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Ngai province explained that the Ly Son High School construction project has an investment cost of 79 billion VND, and the medium-term plan was approved in September 2021. The initial investor was the Management Board of Construction Investment Projects of Ly Son District. Due to various difficulties, the investor of this project was transferred to the Management Board of Civil Works Projects of Quang Ngai province. However, to date, the handover between the two units has not been completed.
Mr. Tran Quang Hong, Principal of Le Khiet High School for the Gifted, said that in the past, the level of funding for excellent students and sports and cultural activities of the school did not have the content and level of funding according to Resolution No. 33/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 10, 2021 of the People's Council of Quang Ngai province, so there were difficulties in implementing and organizing activities in the school.
Mr. Hong suggested that there should be a special policy on the regime for teachers and students participating in training the provincial team to participate in national and international competitions for excellent students. Because the current level of training for excellent students to participate in national competitions for excellent students is too low.
In addition, there are many opinions from leaders and teachers of the Quang Ngai education sector mentioning the following issues: Increasing the expenditure norms for educational activities at the preschool level; increasing the teaching of Vietnamese for ethnic minority students; proposing to build public housing for teachers from the plains to teach in mountainous, highland, and island areas...
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province, answered questions raised by leaders and teachers.
Concluding the dialogue, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and endeavors of the entire sector towards the education and training cause of this province. Ms. Van said that the opinions and recommendations at the dialogue were completely valid, accurately reflecting the thoughts, aspirations, and issues raised from practice.
At the dialogue, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ngai province mobilized resources to give gifts to units, teachers and students in especially difficult circumstances with a total value of nearly 7 billion VND.
Of which, 50 gifts were given to poor students (VND 3 million/gift); 10 gifts were given to teachers in especially difficult circumstances (VND 3 million/gift); support was given to build 3 houses for teachers and 2 houses for former teachers with housing difficulties (VND 50 million/house); 6,000 pairs of shoes were given to students in 5 mountainous districts; support was given to Ly Son district to build a storm shelter combined with study at An Vinh Primary School No. 2.
On this occasion, Quang Ngai province also awarded 300 million VND to support 87 beds for students of Truong Ngoc Khang Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Tra Bong District).
