The event to announce the Tet gift program for the poor in the Spring of Giap Thin 2024 was held by BIDV in Hanoi on January 15, 2024. Accordingly, priority subjects include: poor people in remote areas, areas affected by natural disasters due to floods, severe cold, drought and salinity; families with meritorious services to the revolution; lonely elderly people, homeless children...; poor workers in 63 provinces and cities.
Each Tet gift is worth 500,000 VND to buy necessities for Tet (according to current prices, it can buy 1 kg of meat, 2 banh chung, 1 box of jam, 1 box of cake, 1 bottle of cooking oil, 1 kg of sugar, 1 package of MSG, 1 bottle of fish sauce).
In addition, on this occasion, BIDV also launched the program "Warm Tet on remote islands": spending 2 billion VND to give Tet gifts to soldiers and relatives of navy soldiers on duty to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands at the outpost islands of the Fatherland.
At the event announcing the Tet gift giving, BIDV also summarized the "BIDV Run - Warm Tet for the poor in the year of the Dragon 2024" running race held from November 12 to December 3, 2023. This is the 5th consecutive year that BIDV has organized an online charity run using technology to record the running results of the athletes.
The race attracted nearly 54,000 athletes from provinces, cities and 20 countries and territories around the world to participate with a total of 4.5 million km achieved. Corresponding to that result, BIDV spent more than 17 billion VND out of a total of 20 billion VND to give Tet gifts to poor people to welcome the New Year of the Dragon 2024.
The race is an activity that connects people who want to join hands with BIDV to bring Tet gift packages to people in difficult circumstances, contributing to spreading positive life values to the community.
Mr. Tran Phuong - Deputy General Director, Chairman of BIDV Trade Union - shared: " Implementing the direction of the Party and State on joining hands to organize the 2024 Giap Thin Tet for people still facing difficulties in life, BIDV continues to implement the program of giving Tet gifts to the poor. This is an activity that BIDV has carried out annually since 2009.
40,000 Tet gifts are the sentiments and sharing of BIDV staff to families with many difficulties, with the hope that families will have more conditions to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet. BIDV will assign branches to coordinate with the government, Fatherland Front agencies, and Labor Federations in localities to organize the giving to the poor before December 15th .
Attending and speaking at the program, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Truong Thi Ngoc Anh highly appreciated and acknowledged BIDV's meaningful social security activities in recent times. BIDV's Tet gifts for the poor are a special, effective and practical social security program for the poor.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in localities will closely coordinate with BIDV to organize the timely delivery of gifts to the right beneficiaries before the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024.
Giving Tet gifts to the poor is an annual meaningful activity that BIDV has continuously carried out for many years, receiving support and recognition from localities and people across the country.
From 2009 to present, each year BIDV has given 15,000-65,000 gifts to the poor, the total number of gifts BIDV gave to the poor reached nearly 1 million gifts with a total value of more than 300 billion VND.
