Big change: U22 Vietnam changes schedule and stadium at SEA Games 33

TPO - Due to the serious impact of flooding in Songkhla province (Thailand), the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee was forced to move the entire men's football group B, where the U22 Vietnam team is located, to the capital city of Bangkok.

According to the original schedule, U22 Vietnam will meet Laos on December 4 and Malaysia on December 11 at Tinsulanon Stadium (Songkhla). However, the relocation of the match venue has also forced the match schedule to be adjusted, in which the opening match of coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will take place one day earlier, on December 3.

The second leg remains on December 11, while the semi-finals and finals are scheduled for December 15 and December 18, respectively. All matches will be held at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok).

The Vietnam U22 team is currently actively training at Ba Ria Stadium (HCMC), completing the final preparations before entering the most important tournament of the year.

In addition to the major change in location, the men's football event at the 33rd SEA Games also saw a notable change when Cambodia suddenly withdrew from 8 competitions, including men's and women's football. This left Group A, which originally included Thailand, Timor-Leste and Cambodia, with only two teams.

The Organizing Committee quickly came up with an adjustment plan, planning to move U22 Singapore from Group C to Group A instead. Accordingly, there will be a total of 9 teams divided into 3 groups, each group has 3 teams. Group A includes Thailand, Timor-Leste and Singapore; Group B includes Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos; while Group C includes Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.

According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will move from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok on the morning of December 1. VFF has also sent a team to Thailand from November 30 to check the conditions of the hotel, training ground, competition ground and other logistical requirements, to ensure careful preparation and maximum support for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team in their journey to conquer the 33rd SEA Games.
