On the morning of February 17th (the first day of the Lunar New Year), a large number of people visited temples and pagodas to pray for peace and a happy, harmonious new year for their families.
On the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year, Hanoi enjoyed warm, sunny weather, and thousands of people flocked to temples and pagodas to offer incense, pray to Buddha, and express their wishes for a peaceful and lucky new year.
According to VTC News reporters, famous spiritual sites such as Tran Quoc Pagoda, Tay Ho Palace, and Quan Thanh Temple were packed with people.
At Tran Quoc Pagoda (Tay Ho District, Hanoi), from early morning, locals and tourists come to celebrate the spring season, admire the scenery, offer incense to Buddha, pray for peace, and ask for good fortune at the beginning of the year.
Mr. Thanh Long (Hong Ha ward) shared: “Every year, on the first day of Tet, I go to Tran Quoc Pagoda to pray to Buddha for peace, good fortune, and health for my family. After the ceremony, I go out with my relatives to enjoy the spring atmosphere of the first day of the new year.”
At Quan Thanh Temple, there was also a large crowd of people coming to light incense on the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse).
For a long time, the custom of visiting temples and pagodas at the beginning of the year has become a beautiful cultural feature in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people in general and Hanoi residents in particular.
People respectfully offer incense and send their best wishes for themselves and their families in the new year.
At Tay Ho Temple, according to VTC News reporters, thousands of locals and tourists flocked there to pray for peace on the first day of the new year.
The service of writing petitions outside Tay Ho Temple is very popular.
People prepare offerings before entering Tay Ho Temple to offer incense.
Due to the large number of people flocking to Tay Ho Temple, many young children had to sit on their fathers' shoulders to avoid getting lost in the crowd.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, many families perform the ritual of releasing animals, such as fish and birds.
Despite the large number of people visiting the temples, most maintained a respectful attitude and moved in an orderly manner. Many places of worship deployed volunteers to guide people to light incense in the designated areas, minimizing crowding and ensuring security and order.
