Coming to Go Thi parish (Phuoc Son commune, Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh), you can see the landscape here is spacious, clean and beautiful with trees covering most of the space. Families and community activities all arrange neat and tidy garbage disposal areas. The church grounds are both solemn and decorated with ornamental plants and trees. These are positive changes from implementing the pilot model of "Self-managed residential areas to protect the environment and respond to climate change".

The model is a concrete response to the Coordination Program between the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations in Binh Dinh: "Promoting the role of religions in participating in environmental protection and responding to climate change".

Implementing the model, people clean the environment in public places, collect and dispose of garbage in the right place; dispose of garbage, classify plastic waste at the source; plant trees, create a clean, beautiful landscape, friendly to nature.

Through implementation, spontaneous garbage collection points have ceased; people have raised their awareness of environmental protection, kept residential areas clean, and contributed to building a new, advanced rural commune.

Mr. Nguyen Cho, Vice Chairman of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Binh Dinh Province, said that since 2016, when the Cooperation Program was signed, the Catholic Solidarity Committee of the province has organized a thematic conference to convey the content and unify the implementation plan to mobilize Catholics in the province to participate in environmental protection and respond to climate change. Propaganda work has been coordinated and promoted in parishes and parishes to call for joint action for a "green - clean - beautiful" environment.

In addition, the dissemination of the main content on environmental protection and Earth protection according to Pope Francis's Laudato Si message has also been deployed by the Church to parishes, creating positive effects in life: Do not litter or discharge waste indiscriminately; arrange clean waste containers in community living areas and at home; do not produce and trade "dirty" food; do not cut trees indiscriminately; do not burn or destroy forests; do not catch birds and fish with means of mass destruction.

The content of environmental protection has also been implemented by the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Binh Dinh province in the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas; live a good life, beautiful religion" and the movement to build cultural life in residential areas. Therefore, environmental protection actions are widely spread in many areas, to families, bringing practical meaning to life. Through the assessment of the period 2018-2023, it shows that more than 85% of residential areas with a large number of Catholics living are recognized as "Cultural Villages", more than 95% of Catholic families have achieved the title of "Cultural Family"; by 2023, 90% of parishes and parishes will achieve new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

Currently, Catholics in Binh Dinh not only comply with environmental laws but also realize that protecting the environment is a moral duty, because the environment is related to the lives of millions of people now and in the future. Catholics are aware of every action so as not to have a negative impact on the environment and nature.
