According to information from Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), as of 5:30 p.m. on May 31, 9/85 renewable energy projects have submitted documents for recognition of commercial operation date (COD). Of these, 7 projects/parts of projects with a total capacity of 430.22 MW have completed COD procedures and are officially allowed to generate commercial electricity to the grid.
In addition, there are 40 projects that have completed negotiations, submitted by EVN, and have had their temporary prices approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade .
More than 420 MW of renewable electricity has been transferred to the grid.
Thus, up to now, 59/85 projects with a total capacity of 3,389.811 MW have submitted documents to the Electricity Trading Company to negotiate electricity prices and power purchase contracts. Of which, 50 projects (with a total capacity of 2,751.611 MW) have proposed a temporary price equal to 50% of the ceiling price of the price range (according to Decision No. 21 dated January 7, 2023 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade), or about 754 - 908 VND/kWh (excluding value added tax) and depending on the type of solar or wind power source.
Updated as of the morning of June 1, EVN said that the Power Trading Company (under EVN) and investors have completed price negotiations and signed power purchase agreements (PPA) with 46/50 projects.
7 more power generation projects connected to the grid
19 projects have been accepted by competent State management agencies for the construction/part of the construction; 27 projects have been granted electricity operation licenses for the entire plant/part of the plant; 22 projects have had decisions to extend investment policies.
EVN also published a detailed table updating the implementation status of 85 renewable energy projects without prices and an information table on the preparation of procedures for commercial operation certification (COD) of 50 projects with agreed temporary prices.
To date, more than 420 MW of renewable energy has completed commercial procedures, been connected to the grid, and supplemented the national power source. Currently, the total capacity of renewable energy projects that are behind schedule is more than 4,600 MW. Of which, nearly 2,100 MW of 34 transitional projects have completed construction and testing. These projects will not enjoy preferential prices (FIT prices) for 20 years and must negotiate electricity prices with EVN according to the electricity generation price framework issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade earlier this year, with prices 20-30% lower than the previous FIT prices.
