On February 10, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued document No. 891/BCT-ĐCK regarding the coordination of propaganda and organization of activities in response to the movement "All citizens use energy efficiently and effectively, in response to the Earth Hour 2026 campaign," requiring affiliated units to proactively implement synchronously and create a widespread ripple effect throughout society.
According to the document, Earth Hour is a significant global communication campaign that contributes to promoting innovative thinking, applying technology, and changing energy usage methods towards efficiency and modernity. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been the leading agency organizing the event for many years, thereby contributing to raising awareness and promoting action among agencies, businesses, and the public in using energy efficiently and effectively.

In 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to organize the "National Movement for Energy Saving and Efficiency and Participation in the Earth Hour 2026 Campaign" with the message "Green Innovation – Green Future". The movement aims to encourage agencies, organizations, businesses, and the public to strengthen energy saving practices, proactively apply technological solutions, innovate production and consumption methods, and gradually form a lifestyle of rational energy use, contributing to improved productivity, quality, and efficiency of socio-economic development.
To implement the movement in a unified, synchronized, and practical manner, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests its affiliated Departments, Bureaus, and Institutes to strengthen the dissemination of information to officials, civil servants, and employees about the importance of using energy efficiently and effectively; and to actively encourage participation in Earth Hour 2026 activities.
In addition, the assigned units are tasked with encouraging their staff and employees to participate in the online competition to learn about energy saving and efficient energy use, linked to the Earth Hour 2026 campaign, held from March 7th to March 28th, 2026. They are also encouraged to participate in the launching ceremony and other activities in response to the movement according to the general plan.
For educational institutions, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests that affiliated universities and colleges strengthen propaganda and encourage students to actively participate in activities in response to the Earth Hour Campaign; and encourage students to participate in an online competition to learn about the efficient and effective use of energy from March 7th to March 28th, 2026.

In addition, students are encouraged to participate in the Earth Hour 2026 run in both in-person and online formats. The launch ceremony and in-person race are scheduled to be held in Hanoi on the morning of March 7, 2026, while an online race will be held nationwide from March 7 to March 31, 2026, to spread the message of energy conservation and efficiency within the community.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also requested that units proactively develop plans and organize the implementation of activities appropriate to actual conditions, contributing to the strong spread of the "All people use energy efficiently and effectively" movement, linked to the goal of sustainable energy transition and green economic development.
Organizing activities in response to Earth Hour 2026 not only serves to raise awareness and promote energy conservation, but also aims to foster energy-saving habits in production and daily life, making a practical contribution to sustainable development goals and ensuring national energy security in the new era.
