According to a quick report from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), as of February 16th (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month), the market for essential goods nationwide had basically passed the peak of Tet shopping.

People's stockpiling needs are concentrated from the 25th to the 28th of the twelfth lunar month, helping the market enter the final day of the lunar year in a stable state, with abundant supply and controlled prices.

In various localities, supermarkets, shopping malls, and traditional markets have adequately stocked their goods; no shortages or unusual fluctuations have been reported.

Authorities assessed that purchasing power on the 29th day of the Lunar New Year was mainly focused on year-end and New Year's Eve offerings such as roosters, banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), gio cha (Vietnamese sausage), fresh flowers, and fruits. Prices were generally stable, with only slight localized increases in some traditional markets, and there was no speculation or hoarding.

The total value of inventory increased by 10-15% compared to a normal month; many businesses increased their reserves by 20-40% in essential goods. Supply and demand connections between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other localities were strengthened. Retail systems such as WinMart, Saigon Co.op , AEON, etc., increased their stock, offered promotions, developed online sales, and provided home delivery.

To date, 34 provinces and cities have implemented market stabilization programs, committing to selling goods 5-10% lower than market prices and maintaining stability before, during, and after Tet (Lunar New Year). Hanoi alone has 19 participating units with approximately 10,700 sales points; Ho Chi Minh City has over 89 units, with stabilized goods accounting for 23-43% of the market share depending on the product group.

Regarding petroleum products, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has allocated a minimum total supply of nearly 31.8 million cubic meters/tons for 2026. On the 29th day of the Lunar New Year, the market was stable, with no speculation or illegal closures; businesses sold at the prices set in the price adjustment period on February 12th.

Market management forces intensified inspections during peak periods, promptly handling minor violations; no major incidents occurred. Authorities forecast that supply will remain secure until New Year's Eve, and prices of some goods may increase slightly during peak hours, but without causing significant fluctuations.
