After a prolonged period of heavy rain and floods that rapidly increased water flow to reservoirs in Lam Dong province, on November 25, a working delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade led by Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai directly inspected the operation and response work of units in ensuring safety of works and downstream areas.
From November 16 to 22, Lam Dong province recorded prolonged heavy rain , rainfall exceeding the average of many years, causing a rapid increase in water flow to Don Duong and Dai Ninh lakes. In this situation, strictly implementing the direction of the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command, the units operated and regulated according to the correct procedures and closely coordinated with local authorities in informing reservoir operations, ensuring that people in the downstream areas were updated promptly to proactively respond.

Through the on-site inspection, the Deputy Minister acknowledged the sense of responsibility and proactiveness of the units in responding to floods; assessed that the operation of the reservoir has contributed to significantly reducing flood water volume, limiting the risk of deep flooding in downstream areas.
The Ministry's leaders also acknowledged the close direction of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and the activities to support people in overcoming the consequences of floods. In particular, the program to support Lam Dong people with a total value of 3.3 billion VND donated by Power Generation Corporation 1 on November 24 has promptly accompanied the local government and people in their efforts to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives after the floods.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister requested that hydropower plants continue to closely coordinate with local authorities and upstream and downstream projects to ensure operational safety, especially in flood information and warning work and guiding the community on response measures.
Units are also reminded to promptly check the entire project after the flood, from hydraulic items, equipment to locations showing signs of landslides, in order to proactively fix and maintain stable operations in the coming time.
Based on the developments of the recent floods, the Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes that units will continue to review the reservoir operation process, identify shortcomings to promptly propose the completion of the reservoir operation process and the inter-reservoir process to suit extreme natural disaster situations. The Ministry also acknowledges the units' compliance with the process and encourages them to add additional backup plans to effectively handle situations that exceed the design flood level.
In the context of the tropical depression in the East Sea that is likely to strengthen into storm No. 15 and directly affect the South Central region, the Deputy Minister requested units to closely monitor weather developments, proactively lower the water level of reservoirs to flood-receiving levels to create maximum flood prevention capacity, ensure safety of works and minimize impacts on downstream areas.
