Energy Saving: Solution for Sustainable Development
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, said that this is an important conference to promote Vietnam's joint efforts in ensuring energy security, green transformation and implementing the international commitment to net zero emissions.

Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion Nguyen Thi Lam Giang said that 2025 is a time of special significance. This is the mid-term period to promote the implementation of the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the period 2019 - 2030, while simultaneously implementing a series of new Government policies on energy conversion, emission reduction, green transformation and improving energy efficiency in sectors and fields, especially industry, construction, transportation, services and households.
“In the context of a volatile world economy and a risky regional and global energy situation, saving and using energy efficiently is not only a necessary task but also the most sustainable solution to reduce costs, improve competitiveness and ensure national energy security,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang emphasized.
Presenting the report on the implementation results of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy for the period 2019-2030 (VNEEP 3), Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, Deputy Head of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Green Transformation - Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, said: The Party and the State have had many policies and guidelines to use energy economically and efficiently, reducing greenhouse gas emissions such as: Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW of the Politburo sets the energy saving rate on total final energy consumption compared to BAU to reach about 8-10% by 2030; Decision No. 280/QD-TTg dated March 13, 2019 of the Prime Minister approving the National Program on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, reducing energy consumption by 5-7% compared to the total national energy consumption in the 2019-2025 period and reducing it by 8-10% in the 2019-2030 period (VNEEP3)...

Along with that, in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) report, Vietnam has committed to cutting 9% of greenhouse gas emissions in the 2021-2030 period compared to the business-as-usual (BaU) scenario using domestic resources and can increase up to 27% when receiving international support.
Accordingly, within the framework of the VNEEP3 Program, localities across the country have proactively developed, issued and organized the implementation of the Program implementation plan at the local level. At the same time, provinces and centrally run cities have issued plans to implement Directive No. 20 dated June 8, 2023 of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2023-2025 and the following years, or issued Directives of the Provincial People's Committee Chairman on electricity saving tasks.
