Luis Manuel Díaz Jimenez has returned to the arms of friends and family after being kidnapped in the jungle for 12 days. A video shared on social media showed hundreds of people lining the streets of Barrancas, where Díaz and his wife were kidnapped on October 28, to welcome his return.

According to Caracol News , Mr. Diaz returned home with a knee injury and had to stay in bed when people visited. Previously, the 58-year-old man had been released by the ELN guerrilla group thanks to the help of the United Nations Rescue Committee and the Catholic Church.
"I thank God for the opportunity to live again. I thank Colombia for this wonderful support. Thank you to everyone who helped me so much," Mr. Diaz said.
