An Giang Border Guard strengthens coordination to build all-people national defense posture in border areas

On the afternoon of November 10, the Ethnic Committee of the An Giang Provincial People's Council held a meeting to approve the report on the results of the thematic review "Results of the implementation of tasks of the Provincial Border Guard Command in chairing and coordinating the Ethnic Committee (now the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions) and relevant departments, branches, and localities to advise the Provincial People's Committee on implementing tasks and solutions on building the all-people national defense posture in border areas and ethnic minority areas" in the province.

Through actual supervision, the Ethnic Committee of the An Giang Provincial People's Council assessed that the Provincial Border Guard Command has proactively built programs, models, and projects to participate in economic development, hunger eradication, and poverty reduction in border areas with a large population of ethnic minorities, typically: the program "Border Spring warms the hearts of the villagers", "Accompanying women in the border areas", the model "Charity Rice Jar", organizing activities "National Border Guard Festival"...

Thereby, the unit has provided timely support and assistance with housing, livelihood capital, and essential necessities to many ethnic minority households in difficult circumstances, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a total value of more than 15 billion VND.

The Border Guard Command and Border Guard Stations have effectively maintained the implementation of the Programs "Helping Children Go to School" and "Adopted Children of Border Guard Stations", receiving support for 149 students; the Project "Army Officers and Soldiers Help Children Go to School" received support for 179 students and the Program "Godmother", the model "Receiving support for the elderly in difficult circumstances, period 2023 - 2028". The total budget for implementing programs and projects from 2022 - 2025 is over 6 billion VND.

The unit has promoted legal propaganda for ethnic minorities with many creative and effective methods such as organizing concentrated propaganda, the model of "Border loudspeaker", "Border reading room"...

The Ethnic Committee of the An Giang Provincial People's Council recommends that the Border Guard Command continue to strengthen coordination with Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in propagating and mobilizing people to comply with the law, strengthening national defense and security; diversifying the content, forms and measures to implement sustainable and long-term models and programs; replicating effective models and proactively proposing specific policies and mechanisms suitable to the realities of border areas.
