Ministry of Education and Training honors students who won prizes in international competitions

This afternoon, December 16, the Ministry of Education and Training held a meeting to honor students who won prizes in the 2023 International Olympic and Science and Technology competitions.

In 2023, 7 delegations of excellent Vietnamese students (36 students) participating in regional and international Olympic competitions achieved excellent results. All contestants won prizes, including: 8 gold medals, 12 silver medals, 12 bronze medals and 4 certificates of merit.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh awarded certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training to students.

Vietnamese student delegations have competed for many years and are often in the top 10 countries with the highest results. Many Vietnamese students achieved the highest scores.

2023, REGENERON ISEF 2023 Held in person in Dallas (USA) from May 14 to 19, 61 countries and territories participated. The Vietnamese delegation had 7 projects participating in REGENERON ISEF 2023; of which 1 project won the official prize of the competition and 1 project won the special prize awarded by the US Agency for International Development with a prize value of 2,000 USD.

The Ministry of Education and Training emphasized: "The results of the 2023 International Science and Technology Olympiad affirm the efforts of students, under the guidance of teachers; the timely care, attention and encouragement of parents and organizations for students throughout the learning process.

This is also the result of the innovation of theeducation sector in selecting and training national teams to participate in regional and international Olympic competitions according to the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training."

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh awarded certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training to teachers with high achievements in nurturing excellent students.

In order to honor and commend the achievements of students in the 2023 International Olympic and Science and Technology competitions; to recognize the contributions and dedication of teachers and schools in training teams and participating in organizing the 2023 International Olympic competitions, the Minister of Education and Training signed decisions to award certificates of merit to individuals and groups.

On behalf of the teachers participating in training, coaching and leading the teams, Associate Professor Do Danh Bich, Head of the Physics Olympic delegation, said: "This is the first year that all Olympic teams participate directly in the host country. We are not only proud of the students' individual achievements, but also proud of their representation of Vietnam in front of friends around the world ."

According to Associate Professor Bich, the excellent achievements of the national Olympic and Science and Technology teams are the driving force to train generations of excellent students with qualities and abilities to meet the requirements of high-quality human resources for the development of the country and the world.

"Hopefully your success will be a source of encouragement for future generations, encouraging students to pursue their passions, explore knowledge to contribute to building the country," Associate Professor Bich expressed.

Representing the winning student delegation, Nguyen An Thinh (a gold medalist at the 2023 International Mathematical Olympiad) said: the achievements in this year's international competitions are a testament to the efforts of the student delegation; the encouragement and support from the school, friends, family; the guidance and education of teachers at schools, national teams, Asian teams and international teams.

"My friends and I promise to always maintain our spirit and passion for studying so that we can continue to develop ourselves, achieve better results, and contribute our small part to the country in the future," An Thinh said.
