On the evening of December 12th, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the recognition of diplomas awarded under the joint training program between the London College of Design and Fashion and Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom).

The degree awarded by Liverpool John Moores University is not yet eligible for recognition.

Regarding the request for recognition of university degrees awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (UK) to several students, the Ministry of Education and Training affirms that, immediately after receiving the applications for degree recognition from these students, based on the documents and confirmation from the London College of Design and Fashion; and in accordance with point a, clause 3, Article 4 of Circular No. 13/2021/TT-BGDĐT dated April 15, 2021, regulating the conditions, procedures, and authority for recognizing degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions for use in Vietnam, the Quality Management Department of the Ministry of Education and Training has issued written responses clearly stating that: The university degrees awarded by Liverpool John Moores University to these students do not yet meet the conditions for recognition under current regulations.

Regarding the recognition of diplomas and joint training activities related to the London College of Design and Fashion, immediately after receiving feedback on the recognition of diplomas and joint training activities related to the London College of Design and Fashion, on the morning of December 12th, representatives from the following units: the Department of Quality Management, the Department of International Cooperation, the Department of Higher Education, the Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education, and the Ministry's Office, met to review, discuss, and agree on a solution.

There are signs of improper implementation regarding international training partnerships.

"This is a complex issue involving multiple legal entities: London Fashion College - Hanoi Co., Ltd.; London Academy of Design and Fashion (Hanoi); London Vocational College of Design and Fashion (Hanoi); London Fashion Academy; Liverpool John Moores University…, showing signs of not complying with current regulations on international training partnerships," the Ministry of Education and Training stated.

Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training believes it is necessary to continue requesting relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals to report and provide more information on the training activities, joint training programs, and diploma issuance of the London College of Design and Fashion to verify and clarify the issues raised by the press and students.

The Ministry of Education and Training is also considering establishing an inspection team to conduct a comprehensive review of the activities of the London College of Design and Fashion within its scope of state management. It affirms that it will handle the case in accordance with the law, strictly addressing any violations (if any) within its authority, while ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of students based on full compliance with current regulations.

Previously, many students at the London College of Design and Fashion had complained that the university degrees they received after completing their studies were not recognized, despite the college promoting the degree as globally valid. Beyond just the degrees, the London College of Design and Fashion has also faced questions from students regarding its operations and training programs.
