Athletics received a "shower of medals" with 5 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal after the first day of competition (June 3)
On the afternoon of June 3, at Hoa Xuan Stadium (Cam Le District), the Organizing Committee of the 13th Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival awarded medals to athletes who completed the final round of the Athletics events: 400m hurdles for men and women; 100m run for men and women; shot put (5kg) for men; high jump for women; 800m run for men and 3,000m for men.
The Vietnamese team continued to win 4 Gold medals and 2 Silver medals. Athlete Le Thi Tuyet Mai excellently won the Gold medal with a time of 1 minute 1 second 87; Duong Thi Thao won the Gold medal with a bar of 1.74m (high jump).
In the men's 800m race, athlete Duong Phu Toan won the Gold medal with a time of 1 minute 55 seconds 44 and athlete Luong Binh Duong won the Silver medal with a time of 1 minute 55 seconds 75.
Athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh won the Gold medal in the 3,000m race with a time of 10 minutes 16 seconds 12
In the men's 3,000m race, athlete Nguyen Le Hoang Vu won the Gold medal with a time of 9 minutes 29 seconds 65. Athlete Nguyen Hoang Thinh won the Silver medal with a time of 9 minutes 30 seconds 41.
Previously, on the morning of June 3, athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh won the Gold medal in the 3,000m race with a time of 10 minutes 16 seconds 12; athlete Trieu Thi Binh won the Bronze medal. In the men's long jump, athlete Pham Xuan Tien won the Silver medal with a time of 7.24m.
