The newest statue depicts a bull charging forward, head lowered, muscles prominent, horns pointing straight ahead – symbolizing the aggressive spirit and growth momentum of the market.
What does the "attacking bull" symbol mean?
For many years, the area in front of the HoSE headquarters has featured statues of a bull and a bear in a fighting pose, symbolizing the two opposing states of the stock market .
Last December, HoSE experimented with placing a bull statue in an "attacking" pose at this location. However, the statue was later temporarily moved. Now, the bull statue has reappeared in its complete form, as seen on the evening of the 27th day of the 12th lunar month.
The bull and bear symbols clashed earlier on HoSE.
In financial terms, a bear market refers to a period when stock prices fall and market sentiment is pessimistic.
The image of a "bull" or a bull market is a familiar symbol of a rising market.
The appearance of the "attacking bull" statue in front of the HoSE is seen by many as a symbolic signal, conveying a message about a strong new phase for Vietnamese stocks after their upgrade.
Beyond its visual appeal, many experts believe that the symbol of a growing market not only carries symbolic meaning but also raises expectations for substantial improvements in the future.
With Vietnam's stock market being upgraded from frontier to emerging market status, investors expect HoSE to continue promoting reforms to the trading system, increasing information transparency, improving the quality of corporate governance of listed companies, and enhancing the attractiveness of international capital flows.
The Wall Street Bull
In New York City, the "Charging Bull" statue has long been an inseparable symbol of the financial district.
Wall Street is a street located in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. It runs from Broadway to South Street, along the East River, through the historic Financial District. Wall Street is home to the headquarters of the New York Stock Exchange.
More than just a popular stop for tourists, the "Wall Street Bull" is also seen as a symbol of the Wall Street spirit in the eyes of global investors.
With its aggressive, forward-charging posture, the bull symbolizes confidence, the desire for growth, and the resilience of the US stock market .
Overall, whether the market is in a bull market (rising prices) or a bear market (falling prices), it impacts investment performance and the level of risk investors face.
Therefore, correctly identifying the dominant market trend is crucial before making any trading decisions.
Based on this, new investors can develop appropriate strategies, allocate capital wisely, and control risks effectively.
The market capitalization of the HoSE exchange reached nearly 8.6 trillion VND.
At the close of trading on the last trading day of the Year of the Snake 2025, the HoSE reached a market capitalization of nearly 8.6 million billion VND. As of the end of November 2025, HoSE had 705 listed and traded securities, including 395 stocks, 4 closed-end fund certificates, 18 ETF certificates, and 288 guaranteed warrants, with a total listed securities volume of nearly 198.13 billion securities.
Currently, HoSE is chaired by Mr. Trinh Son Hong. Mr. Son previously served as the deputy head of the Securities Market Supervision Board of the State Securities Commission and was appointed to his new position at Vietnam's largest stock exchange at the end of December 2025.
Simultaneously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha, Acting Chairwoman of HoSE, was appointed as General Director. Previously, Ms. Ha assumed this position from the end of February 2021, replacing Mr. Le Hai Tra. At that time, Ms. Ha was assigned to oversee the Board of Directors, performing functions and powers equivalent to those of the Acting Chairwoman of HoSE.
