Speaking at the meeting, Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phuong said that 2025 is considered a year of accelerated growth and breakthroughs in the fields of Culture, Sports and Tourism , and has made many important contributions to the comprehensive development of the province.
The cultural sector has undergone significant transformation in both scale and depth, playing a key role in achieving the targets of the Provincial Party Congress Resolution for the 2020-2025 term.
Many large-scale, iconic cultural events have been successfully organized. The management, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage values have been implemented systematically and with a long-term vision; focusing on developing the National Museum Project "Memories of War and Aspiration for Peace," and completing the planning for special national historical sites such as Hien Luong - Ben Hai Riverbanks and Dong Ha Military Port.
During the year, two national-level ranked historical sites and three intangible cultural heritage items (festivals) were included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Simultaneously, the digitization of heritage sites was implemented, and plans for the restoration and preservation of the system of historical sites for the period 2022–2025 were developed; significant results were achieved in the demarcation and protection of historical sites, creating a legal basis and guiding sustainable development.

The sports sector continues to develop positively, especially high-performance sports with many outstanding results; the organization of tournaments is carried out professionally, diversely, and widely, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people and gradually affirming the position of Quang Tri sports in regional and international arenas.
Tourism continues to be a bright spot in socio-economic development, achieving high growth rates, meeting and exceeding set targets, and affirming its role as one of the four pillars of the province's development. Promotion and marketing efforts have been modernized and improved; cooperation with major television stations, airlines, and international media outlets has been strengthened to promote the province's tourism image in key markets such as Europe, North America, and Australia. Many of the province's tourism products and destinations have been recognized at the national and international levels.
Information and communication work has undergone a strong transformation, gradually shifting from traditional management methods to digital-based management; promptly and effectively disseminating information on major political tasks and events; improving the effectiveness of state management of the press and electronic information; and modernizing information infrastructure for external affairs and specialized communication in Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

According to the Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Van Phuong, during the 2020-2025 term, and in 2025 as well, besides the proactive efforts of the locality, Quang Tri province has always received the attention and guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the timely and effective support and guidance of the Departments, Bureaus, and units under the Ministry in implementing tasks related to socio-economic development, national defense and security; especially in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.
"It can be affirmed that the important attention, companionship, and support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have made a significant contribution to the task of socio-economic development, preserving cultural identity, improving the spiritual life of the people, and promoting the image of Quang Tri province – a land rich in historical and cultural traditions – to friends at home and abroad," emphasized Nguyen Van Phuong, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee.
According to Nguyen Van Phuong, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, based on the achievements and requirements of the new phase, Quang Tri province requests the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to pay attention to and support the province in implementing socio-economic development and national defense and security tasks in 2026 and the following years. This includes matters related to the project to build the "Memories of War and Aspiration for Peace" Museum; the 2026 Peace Festival; hosting Phase II of the 2026 National Volleyball Championship; and hosting the 2027 National Tourism Year.

Concluding the meeting, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed the spirit of coordination "Ministry provides guidance, Departments cooperate, for a common goal" to promote the fields of culture, sports and tourism.
After reviewing the report from the Provincial People's Committee, listening to the opinions of provincial leaders, and exchanging professional opinions with specialized units, the Minister stated that the Ministry and the locality have basically reached a high level of consensus in assessing the situation as well as in researching and resolving the locality's proposals within their authority.
The Minister highly appreciated the results achieved by Quang Tri province after implementing the policy of reorganizing administrative units and forming a two-tiered local government. The merger of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces has created greater room for socio-economic and national defense and security development. Despite the short timeframe, Quang Tri province quickly stabilized its administrative apparatus, successfully organized the Provincial Party Congress, and clearly defined its targets for the term.

According to the Minister, 2025 marks many important achievements in socio-economic development, with people's lives basically stable. In particular, provincial leaders have increasingly recognized the role and importance of culture, considering it an intrinsic strength and a deep-seated resource for sustainable development.
The Minister expressed agreement with the development directions set by the Provincial Party Committee, and also shared some suggestions from the perspective of state management of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Accordingly, sustainable development must be based on a cultural foundation; culture must be the pillar of development, the regulator of sustainable development for society. Culture is the element that creates the identity, brand, and distinctiveness of each region.
Quang Tri: Effectively exploiting the value of world natural heritage sites while preserving them.
The Minister suggested that Quang Tri focus on defining the province's cultural space, and based on that, form cultural axes to serve development planning. These cultural axes should reflect the historical depth, human identity, revolutionary traditions, and aspirations for progress of Quang Tri, linked to the typical qualities of Quang Tri.
Based on that, the Minister suggested establishing three main axes: the axis of history, peace, and revolution; the axis of islands, seas, and ecology; and the axis of culture and urban areas. These will be the foundation for building a unified cultural space in diversity, promoting the social cohesion of culture.
The Minister also noted that culture should not be limited to organizing events but should be viewed as a long-term, in-depth process requiring strategic vision and a high level of scientific expertise.
According to the Minister, defining the cultural identity of Quang Tri must be linked to the core qualities of the people of Quang Tri in the new era, clearly demonstrating unique values that are distinct and not confused with those of other localities.
The Minister emphasized the need to prioritize development to transform heritage into assets. Quang Tri must develop based on its heritage. With its rich system of revolutionary historical relics and UNESCO-recognized heritage sites, Quang Tri needs to select key areas for investment, building unique, symbolic tourism products capable of telling stories through contemporary art, touching emotions, and captivating visitors.
The Minister stated that tourism must be based on cultural products to achieve sustainable development. Furthermore, the organization of the National Tourism Year, festivals, and events needs to be planned long-term, with a consistent narrative, contributing to regulating tourist flows and enhancing economic efficiency.

Regarding Quang Tri's proposals and recommendations, the Minister stated that for the provincial museum project, the Ministry supports the principle and suggests that the province focus on selecting a suitable location, designing a modern museum, applying science and technology and digitalization, aiming for an experiential museum model with accompanying services to attract visitors.
The Minister also agreed on the principle of selecting Quang Tri to host the National Tourism Year 2027, assigning specialized units of the Ministry to provide guidance and lay the foundation for sustainable tourism development.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is ready to coordinate and support the province in organizing the Festival for Peace in 2026, with a view to researching and proposing that the festival be elevated to a national level festival.
In addition, the Ministry supports the organization of large-scale sports events that are suitable to local strengths; and encourages the province to proactively attract investment, closely adhering to the Resolution on the development of the private economy, creating competitive advantages and growth drivers.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the proactive approach and determination of the leaders of Quang Tri province, and expressed his confidence that the province will continue to develop and gradually rise to become a prosperous locality in the region and the country.
