At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung reported to the Minister on the results of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand. The Ambassador said that in recent times, Vietnam has become a favorite destination for Thai people, especially the youth. People-to-people exchange, economic , trade and tourism cooperation continue to be strongly promoted.
"2026 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations (1976-2026), so the two countries are actively preparing large-scale and meaningful commemorative activities," said Ambassador Pham Viet Hung.

On this occasion, the Ambassador asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate and support the organization of more exchange activities, enhance understanding and strengthen friendship between the two peoples.
Responding to the Ambassador, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that, with the authorization of the Prime Minister, the Minister went to Thailand on December 8 to attend the SEA Games Opening Ceremony. After the Opening Ceremony, the Minister will immediately return to Vietnam to continue the program of the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly . Although the time is short, according to the practice of working abroad, the Minister always takes time to visit the Embassy - the common home of Vietnamese people in foreign lands.
Thanking the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand for coordinating and supporting the Vietnamese Sports Delegation during the competition here, the Minister hoped that the connection between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Embassy will continue to be strengthened.
Emphasizing the consistent viewpoint of the Party and State on the three pillars of diplomacy: Party diplomacy (relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and other communist, workers' and ruling parties), State diplomacy (relationship between the Vietnamese State and countries and international organizations) and People's diplomacy (exchange of people, social and cultural organizations), the Minister affirmed that international cooperation is always based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, for peace and development.

"In the new context, culture and people-to-people exchanges are increasingly identified as important "soft bridges", creating a sustainable foundation for all international relations. Only culture has the ability to connect, spread and preserve long-term cooperative values. Countries know Vietnam first of all through the depth of culture and the beauty of the Vietnamese people, thereby opening up interest in economics, trade and tourism," the Minister expressed.
Citing the viewpoint that "If culture exists, the nation exists" as a core viewpoint in the policy of building and developing Vietnamese culture, emphasized by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 2021 National Cultural Conference, the Minister also affirmed the key role of preserving the Vietnamese language - the core of national identity, contributing significantly to the task of spreading national cultural values that needs to be carried out persistently, based on the community and through exchange, art and educational activities.
Towards the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations, the Minister said that the Politburo is about to issue a Resolution on the development of Vietnamese culture in the new era, posing many major requirements, including the task of "internationalizing Vietnamese culture" - bringing Vietnamese culture to the world and selectively absorbing the quintessence of humanity. This will be an important orientation to strengthen cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.

The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand.
The Minister assigned the Department of International Cooperation to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to propose practical activities, initially considering organizing "Vietnam Cultural Day in Thailand" and "Thai Cultural Day in Vietnam", and suggested that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand expand the scale to "Vietnam - Thailand Cultural - Sports - Tourism Festival".
The event will include a tourism forum, destination connection, promotion, sports exchanges and joint art programs. This will be a comprehensive activity, helping to enhance understanding and promote multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister hoped that the Embassy would continue to accompany and support the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, encourage overseas Vietnamese to care and share the spirit with the athletes, and create more encouragement for them to compete and achieve the highest results during the 33rd SEA Games.
