Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan - Cao Bang economic corridor plays an important role in connecting the northern mountainous provinces with the capital Hanoi. Currently, a connection has been formed from the capital Hanoi to Thai Nguyen province.

“The Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway will initially connect Bac Kan city with the capital Hanoi, meeting the need for convenient and safe transportation, creating a driving force for socio-economic development on this corridor, gradually completing the road network planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050,” said the Minister.

According to him, Bac Kan province has great development potential, especially in the fields of agriculture - forestry, processing industry and eco-tourism (Ba Be Lake, Cho Don historical site...).

The Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway will connect Bac Kan with the capital Hanoi and Hai Phong international seaport through a modern and convenient road traffic system, reducing transportation time and costs, and supporting investment attraction.

At the same time, the expressway will also strengthen regional connectivity, connect localities, develop high-quality agricultural zones, valuable specialized production areas; develop a system of resort areas to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Bac Kan, Cao Bang...

Assessing that the tasks in the coming time still have many difficulties and challenges, to ensure the project's quality, complete on schedule and avoid waste and negativity, the Ministry of Construction requested the People's Committee of Bac Kan province to continue to resolutely carry out site clearance work.

The Minister also requested the province to focus on implementing resettlement work for people as soon as possible, and support the quick settlement of licensing procedures for mining construction material mines...

The Minister requested investors, supervision consultants, design consultants and construction contractors to promote the highest sense of responsibility and prevent corruption and waste.

Synchronous investment according to complete 4-lane highway standards

The representative of Project Management Board 2 (investor) said that the expressway starts at Km0+00 connecting Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi expressway, Cho Moi district, Bac Kan province; the end point of the project connects Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway, Bac Kan city. The total length of the route is about 28.8km.

Of which, the expressway is about 28.4km long, the section connecting to National Highway 3.B and connecting with Bac Kan - Ba Be Lake road is 0.4km long.

The project has a total investment of VND 5,750.76 billion (of which compensation, support and resettlement costs are VND 574.74 billion) from the budget.

The expressway is designed for a speed of 80km/h with a scale of 4 lanes, a roadbed width of 22m; the connecting section has a roadbed width of 12m.

The route has 18 bridges with a total bridge length of 4.66km, including 16 bridges on the highway and 2 overpasses across the highway.

On the route, build 1 grade-separated intersection at the intersection with National Highway 3 at Km9+500 and 2 level intersections at the beginning of the route at Km0+00 and the end of the route at Km28+829.

Once the project is completed, the expressway will contribute to achieving the goal of having about 5,000km of expressway nationwide by 2030.

Currently, our country has put into operation 2,021km, by the end of this year about 3,000km will be put into operation and by the end of 2050 about 5,000km will be put into operation.
