This afternoon, May 30, in Hanoi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Nguyen Van Hung chaired a working session with Quang Tri province on a number of issues related to the field of culture, sports and tourism and the list of projects under the National Target Program on culture for the period 2026 - 2030 in the province; coordination and support for localities to organize the Festival for Peace in 2024. Reporting at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam said that in recent times, Quang Tri has effectively deployed resources allocated and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, combined with available local resources to exploit and promote cultural values to promote tourism .
In particular, priority will be given to implementing two projects to restore and embellish special national relics: Quang Tri Ancient Citadel and Hien Luong - Ben Hai; developing a plan to organize the Cultural Festival of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in 2024; organizing a number of sports competitions in the province before and after organizing the Festival for Peace according to the plan of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Focus on researching and developing a pilot project on "Management, exploitation, and effective promotion of the system of cultural and sports institutions" and a scientific dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration of ranking as a special national monument for the Gio An ancient water exploitation works system to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration...
Regarding the list of projects under the National Target Program on Culture for the period 2026-2030 in the province, the locality proposed the Quang Tri Provincial War Museum project and the Peace Road project.
Specifically, the Quang Tri Province War Museum project is planned on an area of 15 hectares, including the following items: Museum exhibition house divided into exhibition, memorial and experience areas; cinema house, outdoor exhibition space, park and other auxiliary works...
The total estimated cost is 1,000 billion VND. The Peace Road project has a total length of 11 km and is built at the special national monument of Hien Luong - Ben Hai River, of which the length to the North and South of Ben Hai River is 5.5 km.
Here, a number of typical symbolic clusters will be built on both routes along with technical infrastructure, lighting, trees, lawns, flower gardens, walking paths... The estimated cost is about 500 billion VND.
For the 2024 Peace Festival, Quang Tri province proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism add the festival to the National Target Program on Cultural Development and Building Vietnamese People for the period 2026 - 2030, with a vision to 2045. At the same time, it proposed that the ministry support the province in developing a scenario and framework for the flower lantern ceremony on the Thach Han River and include this festival in the national festival program, as a local brand.

Regarding the organization of the Festival for Peace, there is a suggestion to include the idea of performing light art using drones in the program; Quang Tri needs to develop a framework scenario for organizing the festival with specific roles for coordinating units so that specialized units of the ministry have a basis to support each field during the implementation process.
Regarding the proposal to build the Quang Tri Province War Museum project, the locality needs to review and update to match the province's planning; develop a plan to search for and prepare contents and exhibits in advance to avoid duplication with existing war relic museums in other localities; the construction of the museum needs to follow the orientation of humanistic values, calling for peace...

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung said that Quang Tri is a locality with many difficulties, but it has a massive and unique system of revolutionary war relics, becoming a symbol and pride of the people of the whole country as well as international friends. Therefore, in order to contribute to more widely promoting the image of the history, land and people of Quang Tri to tourists near and far in order to contribute to the overall development of the locality, Quang Tri really needs the accompaniment, support and sharing of the central government, including the field of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Regarding the 2024 Peace Festival, Quang Tri is currently making efforts to call for and mobilize socialization to organize this particularly important event. For the festival to take place successfully as intended and meaningful, Quang Tri province hopes that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will accompany and support the locality in the process of building the opening and closing ceremony programs to create a highlight for the festival.

Regarding the province's proposals, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung emphasized that the investment in the construction of the two projects of the Quang Tri Provincial War Museum and the Peace Road will be a cultural and historical landmark, not only the pride of the people of Quang Tri in particular and the people of the whole country in general, but also a valuable destination for international tourists. Concluding the meeting, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that Quang Tri is a locality with a long history, where it has suffered much pain and loss due to war, therefore, accompanying and supporting the development process of the locality, especially in the field of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is always of interest to the Ministry.
For the 2024 Peace Festival, the organizing committee is requested to urgently review and check the detailed script of each activity in the spirit of ensuring absolute security and safety, especially for large-scale activities with many people; spend a lot of time preparing for the opening and closing night programs to clearly convey the festival's message.
Regarding this content, the province is requested to provide the script and ideas as soon as possible so that the ministry has a basis to assign the art council to participate in reviewing, commenting and adjusting. This is a festival with many activities with complex tasks, along with the coordination of many agencies and units, so the province must have specific assignments and roles for each program to avoid overlap in the organization stage.
Based on the province's request, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will preside over and support Quang Tri in implementing the closing program of the Festival for Peace with the content "Peace Wish", in which attention will be paid to the symbolic artistic element.
Regarding the two projects proposed by Quang Tri, in principle, Minister Nguyen Van Hung supports the policy. However, he suggested that the province should soon draft a detailed project proposal for the Quang Tri Provincial War Museum project and send it to the ministry for consideration.
For the Hoa Binh Road project, the province must work with the Ministry of Transport to clarify other regulations before submitting the documents, because this is a construction project on a traffic route.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung also asked Quang Tri to speed up the restoration project at two special national relics, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel and Hien Luong - Ben Hai.
