
The document signed by Mr. Chu Quoc Thinh, Acting Director of the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ), stated that on November 11, the Department of Food Safety received information about a suspected food poisoning incident that occurred in Huong Tra ward, Hue city.
According to initial reports, several workers of a local company were hospitalized after eating at a communal kitchen, with symptoms such as nausea and allergies.
Faced with the above situation, the Food Safety Department requested the Hue City Department of Health to urgently direct hospitals with patients being treated to focus resources on actively treating food poisoning patients so as not to affect their health and lives.
At the same time, organize investigations and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food and disease samples for testing to find the cause; investigate and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any).
The Food Safety Department also requested the Hue City Department of Health to strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure food safety conditions, strictly control the origin and source of food ingredients, ensure hygiene during the process of preliminary processing, processing, and transportation of food, three-step food inspection, and food sample storage; and propagate to people in choosing food as well as food processing service establishments serving crowded events.
Hue City Department of Health needs to strictly implement the instructions of the Ministry of Health in Official Dispatch No. 7598/BYT-ATTP dated October 20, 2025 on strengthening the work of ensuring food safety in schools and collective kitchens; Official Dispatch No. 2633/BYT-ATTP dated April 30, 2025 on strengthening the work of ensuring food safety, preventing fake food, food poisoning and Official Dispatch No. 271/ATTP-NDTT dated February 18, 2025 of the Department of Food Safety on ensuring food safety, preventing food poisoning and foodborne diseases in the area in 2025.
At the same time, closely monitor the development of the poisoning situation, promptly report according to instructions, proactively inform about the incident and promptly publicize the results to warn the community and notify people to be safe and report the results to the Department of Food Safety according to regulations.
Previously, as Nhan Dan Newspaper reported, on the afternoon of November 11, the Hue City Department of Health said that Huong Tra Medical Center had received 13 cases of suspected food poisoning, and then one more person was hospitalized, bringing the total number to 14 patients.
According to initial information, the patients were all workers of J.. Vietnam Limited Liability Company, located in the Industrial Park of Huong Tra Ward. After lunch that day, many people showed symptoms of nausea and allergies, suspected to be due to food poisoning. The menu of the meal included fish, eggs and some other dishes.
Hue City Department of Health sent a working group to coordinate with Huong Tra Medical Center, People's Committee and Huong Tra Ward Health Station to verify, investigate, collect samples and handle.
By the evening of the same day, Mr. Tran Kiem Hao, Director of the City Health Department, said that of the 14 patients, 13 were treated at Huong Tra Medical Center and 1 was transferred to Hue Central Hospital, branch II.
Currently, the health of 11 patients has stabilized, two continue to be monitored, of which, the case treated at Hue Central Hospital II has progressed well. The health sector is continuing to collect samples of specimens and food samples for testing, clarifying the cause of the incident.
