The Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) stated that it has not detected any a2 Platinum Premium USA infant formula for children aged 0-12 months, which is subject to a voluntary recall in the US, being imported and distributed officially in Vietnam.
Following the US warning to recall several batches of iron-fortified powdered infant formula under the brand name a2 Platinum Premium USA, on May 4th, the Food Safety Department sent a document to the Departments of Health , Food Safety, and Food Safety Sub-departments in localities requesting a review of self-declarations and increased market inspection and supervision of this product.
This agency also requested the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) to inspect the business activities of products on e-commerce platforms.

According to a May 16th report from the Ninh Binh Provincial Food Safety Department, the unit has not received any self-declaration applications or issued registration certificates for the a2 Platinum Premium USA milk formula for children aged 0-12 months, which is currently under warning in the United States.
Upon inspection, the company that was granted registration certificates for certain products under the a2 brand has not been found to have imported or sold any of the recalled batches.
Currently, this company has 6 product registration certificates and 8 milk and food supplement products under the a2 brand that have been self-declared.
In a report submitted to the Food Safety Department, the company stated that it had reviewed all import records, warehouse data, and distribution systems. The results confirmed that the company did not import, trade, or distribute in Vietnam the three batches of products that were voluntarily recalled in the United States.
A company representative affirmed that the a2 milk products currently sold in Vietnam are produced for the Australian and New Zealand markets and are not related to the shipments that were flagged in the US.
After receiving the recall notice, the company sent eight samples of infant formula currently circulating in Vietnam to the National Institute of Food Safety and Hygiene Testing for analysis.
The results showed that no Bacillus cereus bacteria or Cereulide toxin were detected in the samples tested.
The Food Safety Department requests that localities and relevant agencies continue to monitor self-declarations, inspect the market, and conduct business activities of products on e-commerce platforms to ensure the safety of consumers, especially infants and young children.
