
To date, no Vietnamese citizens have been reported to be linked to the aforementioned cluster of cases. The Department of Disease Prevention has issued a document requesting localities to strengthen surveillance at border gates, surveillance at medical examination and treatment facilities, sanitation, disinfection of vehicles, rodent control, and proactively implement appropriate disease prevention and control measures.
For Vietnam, Hantavirus disease is not an entirely new issue in epidemiological surveillance. However, based on a review of existing scientific information, Vietnam has not recorded any cases caused by the Andes virus strain. The Department of Disease Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Health will continue to coordinate with the WHO and relevant agencies to update the situation, assess risks, and implement appropriate response measures, promptly informing the public when new developments occur.
