The Ministry of Health provides information about the Hanta virus strain.

Following the World Health Organization's report of a cluster of Hantavirus infections (Andes strain) on an international cruise ship, resulting in three deaths, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health issued an epidemiological surveillance warning and advised the public not to panic but to proactively take precautions against transmission from rats to humans.

The Ministry of Health has released information about the Hanta virus strain.

To date, no Vietnamese citizens have been reported to be linked to the aforementioned cluster of cases. The Department of Disease Prevention has issued a document requesting localities to strengthen surveillance at border gates, surveillance at medical examination and treatment facilities, sanitation, disinfection of vehicles, rodent control, and proactively implement appropriate disease prevention and control measures.

For Vietnam, Hantavirus disease is not an entirely new issue in epidemiological surveillance. However, based on a review of existing scientific information, Vietnam has not recorded any cases caused by the Andes virus strain. The Department of Disease Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Health will continue to coordinate with the WHO and relevant agencies to update the situation, assess risks, and implement appropriate response measures, promptly informing the public when new developments occur.
