On November 27, the Department of Preventive Medicine ( Ministry of Health ) sent a document to the Director of the Department of Health of Binh Dinh province regarding strengthening influenza prevention and control.
According to information from the event-based surveillance system, in Binh Dinh province (Phu My district and Vinh Thanh district), 4 deaths due to influenza A(H1N1)pdm infection have been recorded.
To strengthen influenza prevention, the Department of Preventive Medicine requested the Director of the Binh Dinh Department of Health to urgently direct medical units to analyze the rate of severe cases and deaths due to influenza; report on influenza surveillance, especially clarify the results of surveillance of severe viral pneumonia to show the actual situation of infection and death due to influenza.
The Department of Preventive Medicine also requested the Department of Health to report any unusual flu issues in the province (if any) to the Ministry of Health before November 29.
At the same time, strengthen surveillance activities, early detection of flu cases, implement measures to thoroughly handle outbreaks, and limit widespread spread.
Strengthen surveillance of severe pneumonia cases and clusters of influenza cases in the community and medical examination and treatment facilities, promptly collect samples and test to identify pathogens.
Coordinate with Pasteur Institute Nha Trang to proactively assess risks, analyze the situation to deploy appropriate and timely anti-epidemic measures.
Ensure admission, emergency, triage, and treatment, minimize deaths, and pay special attention to flu cases in high-risk groups such as pregnant women, people with chronic diseases (cardiovascular disease, tuberculosis, diabetes, malnutrition, AIDS patients, etc.), the elderly, and children.
Strictly implement infection control, prevent cross-infection, and prevent the spread and outbreak of influenza at medical examination and treatment facilities.
The Department of Preventive Medicine requested the Binh Dinh Department of Health to strengthen propaganda activities on measures to prevent influenza, guide the community to proactively implement disease prevention; mobilize people to proactively get vaccinated against influenza strains for which vaccines are available.
Organize inspection teams and promptly direct disease prevention work, focusing on areas with recorded deaths due to influenza and localities with outbreaks.
