The Ministry of Health requested to trace the origin of the food poisoning case that caused many people to be hospitalized in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) said that in Dong Hung Thuan ward, Ho Chi Minh City, a number of people were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning after eating at a company's canteen in the area with symptoms of vomiting and fatigue.

On November 11, the Food Safety Department sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department regarding the investigation and handling of suspected food poisoning cases.

In the document written by Dr. Pharmacist Chu Quoc Thinh - Acting Director of the Department of Food Safety, it was reported that on November 10, 2025, in Dong Hung Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, a number of people were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning after eating at the collective kitchen of a company located in the area with symptoms of vomiting and fatigue.

Faced with the above situation, the Food Safety Department requested the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department to urgently implement the following contents: Directing hospitals with patients being treated to focus resources on actively treating food poisoning patients so as not to affect their health and lives.

At the same time, organize investigations and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food and disease samples for testing to find the cause; investigate and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any).

At the same time, the Department requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure food safety conditions, strictly control the origin and source of food ingredients, ensure hygiene throughout the process of food preparation, processing, transportation, three-step food inspection, and food sample storage.

Educate people on food selection as well as food processing service establishments serving crowded events.

Strictly implement the instructions of the Ministry of Health in Official Dispatch No. 7598/BYT-ATTP dated October 20, 2025 on strengthening the work of ensuring food safety in schools and collective kitchens, Official Dispatch No. 2633/BYT-ATTP dated April 30, 2025 on strengthening the work of ensuring food safety, preventing fake food, food poisoning and Official Dispatch No. 271/ATTP-NDTT dated February 18, 2025 of the Department of Food Safety on ensuring food safety, preventing food poisoning and foodborne diseases in the area in 2025.

The Food Safety Department also requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to closely monitor the development of the poisoning situation, promptly report according to instructions, proactively inform about the incident and promptly publicize the results to warn the community and notify people to rest assured and report the results to the Food Safety Department according to regulations...

Regarding this poisoning case, according to press information, on November 11, Dong Hung Thuan Ward (Ho Chi Minh City) is coordinating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety and relevant agencies to clarify the food poisoning case that occurred in the ward.

Through review, Dong Hung Thuan ward recorded that the company where the food poisoning incident occurred had signed a contract to provide industrial meals with another unit in Hanoi in the form of organizing a kitchen at the enterprise and had a certificate of facility meeting food safety conditions.

The company's total number of employees is 1,152 people.

Lunch situation: 410 meals were provided for workers. At the time of work, 50 cases with symptoms of nausea, stomachache, red rash, itchy face... were recorded and taken to medical units.

27 people were taken to Central America West Regional Hospital; 7 people were taken to Tan Phu Regional Hospital; 10 people were admitted to Tan Binh Regional Hospital and 6 people were taken to Thanh Cong General Hospital.

As of 5:00 p.m. on November 10, 41 cases were discharged from the hospital, and 9 cases continued to be monitored (7 cases at Central America West Regional Hospital, 2 cases at Tan Binh Regional Hospital).
