Constantly innovate content and form of expression
According to Colonel Pham Quang Vinh, Head of the Propaganda Department, Political Department of the Vietnam Coast Guard, the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" was born in the context of the Party and State paying special attention to propaganda and education work about the sea and islands. With the assigned functions and tasks, the Vietnam Coast Guard proposed the model of organizing the contest since 2013. After 12 years of organization, the contest has created a positive effect on secondary school students and all classes of people.
The Minister of National Defense's approval of the project to organize the competition nationwide has affirmed the stature and value of this educational model. Thanks to the application of modern technology, each round of the competition is now innovated in form, increasing interactivity and suitability to the characteristics of students' ages, maintaining its attractiveness and educational significance. Each part of the competition is designed into a separate group of questions, combining both basic and advanced knowledge about the sea, islands, national sovereignty, marine environment, combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) as well as Vietnamese and international laws on the sea and islands.
Sharing about some orientations of the contest in the coming time, Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard, said: The contest "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" is a special form of propaganda aimed at a special audience. Therefore, the contest not only provides knowledge but also nurtures emotions, forming love for the sea and islands of my homeland for secondary school students. The impact of the contest also spreads to parents, teachers and the community. Love and sense of responsibility for the sea and islands are nurtured every day, through each contest and through each generation of students.
After 2030, the project will guide agencies and organizations inside and outside the Army to continue to undertake, ensuring sustainability and longevity. The Vietnam Coast Guard will continue to maintain and strengthen the coordination relationship in carrying out political tasks in general, and propaganda and legal education in particular; promoting the initiative and creativity of grassroots units of the Coast Guard in coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to organize this meaningful contest. "When the entire political system participates, "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" will not only be a contest but also a persistent journey to nurture patriotism, civic awareness and the aspiration to reach out to the sea for the young generation of Vietnam", Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai affirmed./.
