The tournament will take place in Tianjin, China, from August 21st to August 30th, 2026. AVC stated that the champion will qualify directly for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, while the top three teams will secure a spot in the 2027 FIVB World Championships, significantly increasing the competitiveness for all participating teams.
AVC stated that details regarding the competition format, draw, and schedule will be announced in the near future.
In the past, the best performance of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the Asian Championship was 4th place in 2023.
The Asian Volleyball Championship is a high-level competition, bringing together the strongest teams in Asia, and serves as a qualifying round for the Olympics and the FIVB World Championship 2027. This will be a major challenge for Coach Tuan Kiet and his team in 2026.
Previously, AVC also announced that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is among the 12 teams participating in the 2026 AVC Cup held in the Philippines. Compared to the 2026 Asian Championship, the AVC Cup is a lower-ranked tournament but offers a chance for Coach Tuan Kiet's team to gain points on the world rankings. The 2026 AVC Cup will take place from June 6th to June 14th, 2026.
