On the evening of November 14, speaking with a reporter from the Lao Dong Newspaper, editor Nguyen Hoai Anh, Vietnam Television (VTV), said:   Currently, many accounts have been impersonating her Facebook on social networks, including fake accounts that have been given a blue tick.

According to editor Hoai Anh, the number of followers of this fake account has increased rapidly. A week ago, the account only had about 1,000-2,000 followers but now it has reached 11,000.

Editor Hoai Anh is concerned that if the number of followers continues to increase, many people will confuse fake accounts with real accounts, which will significantly affect her personal reputation.

"Recently, many of the station's editors have encountered similar situations," said editor Hoai Anh. She is calling on everyone to report this fake account.

Hoai Anh is known by many as the rare female anchor who speaks with a southern accent to present VTV's 7 p.m. News. She has a sweet, expressive voice and a graceful, skillful way of handling situations.

Editor Hoai Anh warns about fake accounts with blue ticks

According to Mr. Le Hong Duc, founder of OneAds Digital Company Limited, getting a blue tick on Facebook is not difficult, just go through the service, it only costs a few million VND. "Many people still mistakenly think that a blue tick on Facebook means account credibility. In fact, a blue tick no longer guarantees absolute credibility" - he commented.

According to records, on the Facebook platform, the service of upgrading Fanpage or personal page to blue tick is publicly introduced with a price of only 2-3 million VND, completion time is about 15-30 minutes, maintenance fee is more than 200,000 VND/month.

In addition, these services can also increase comments, shares, views and followers on Fanpage or personal page.

Previously, answering reporters about fake Fanpages still being given blue ticks, Mr. Khoi Le, Country Director of Meta in Vietnam, said that the blue tick is a symbol confirming that the account is genuine and has been verified; not just because there is a blue tick does that mean the Fanpage or personal page is reputable.

Meta said it has received feedback from many parties and recommends that users and businesses take advantage of available support tools on Facebook to handle issues related to fraud and counterfeiting. In addition, the platform has also opened a separate channel for the Vietnamese community on Facebook to receive feedback and adjust policies accordingly.

“Temporarily, users and businesses should use available tools on Facebook to handle the problems they are facing, which will be more effective,” said Mr. Khoi Le.
