A breakthrough in oral healthcare.

By delivering billions of active ions to support beneficial bacteria, the Microbiome technology in P/S Pro-Care toothpaste directly maintains the biological balance of the oral microbiome, thereby strengthening the natural protective barrier through daily hygiene routines.

Recently, at the 47th Asia Pacific Dental Conference (APDC), held for the first time in Vietnam, P/S officially announced a breakthrough with Microbiome technology in its Pro-Care toothpaste line.

The conference brought together over 8,000 delegates, including doctors, experts, researchers, and businesses in the field of dentistry from both domestic and international backgrounds.

With the theme "Applying Scientific Advancements to Dental Practice," the conference serves as an important professional forum to update on new trends in oral care, from clinical research and product technology to solutions for improving public health.

New studies show that the oral cavity is actually a complex ecosystem, home to many different groups of microorganisms. Plaque is not just a waste product, but a tightly structured "biofilm" that resembles a "miniature city."

“If this ecosystem develops uncontrollably and becomes disordered, it will directly cause plaque, gingivitis, and tooth decay. Conversely, many groups of microorganisms play an essential role in maintaining a healthy oral environment,” – the scientific report “Balanced Oral Microbiome – The Foundation of Good Oral Health” by Dr. Robert Marriott, representative of Unilever’s Research and Development department, clearly states.

P/S announces its new P/S Pro-care toothpaste product with groundbreaking Microbiome technology, which helps maintain the biological balance of the oral microbiome.

Anatomical evidence reveals a significant statistic: teeth occupy only about 20% of the oral cavity's surface area, while the mucous membrane and soft tissues make up the remaining 80%. Traditional brushing primarily involves mechanical friction, essentially "breaking down" plaque on the surface. However, brushing without specialized active ingredients in this way means we are neglecting a large portion of the soft tissue surface, thereby inadvertently disrupting the balance of the oral environment.

Experts assert that the oral cavity is the gateway to all systemic diseases. When the oral ecosystem is unbalanced and the biofilm is disrupted, it allows harmful bacteria and inflammatory factors to migrate into the bloodstream. Based on a comprehensive understanding of the oral ecosystem and Unilever's superior research and development (R&D) foundation, P/S is the first to incorporate Microbiome technology into its P/S Pro-Care product line.

Microbiome technology is the breakthrough that brings these theoretical foundations into practice. By delivering billions of active ions to support beneficial bacteria, this technology directly maintains biological balance, thereby strengthening the natural protective barrier through daily hygiene habits. Instead of killing bacteria in the oral cavity, P/S Pro-Care aims to support the maintenance of a balanced oral environment, thus contributing to a more sustainable oral care foundation.

Dr. Robert Marriott presented and answered questions from the audience about Microbiome technology in oral care.

A P/S representative stated: “For many years, P/S has been a partner with Vietnamese families in building daily oral care habits. With P/S Pro-Care, we aim to further expand that approach, moving from caring for visible symptoms to paying more attention to the foundations of long-term oral health. As scientific advancements are incorporated into essential products, consumers have more opportunities to access proactive, comprehensive, and more suitable oral care solutions for modern health needs.”

The introduction of Microbiome technology at the 47th Asia Pacific Dental Conference demonstrates P/S's efforts to connect professional research, product innovation, and the healthcare needs of the community. This can be considered a significant step forward, transforming macro-level research achievements into an essential and easily accessible healthcare solution for all consumers.
