The word "One" is used to convey three meanings: unity, being number 1 in victory, and a new beginning.
The SEA Games returns to Thailand, where the regional sporting event was born 66 years ago, in 1959 as the SEAP Games. This edition is therefore considered a “Back to the Roots” moment and paves the way for a new chapter in the history of the SEA Games.
The opening ceremony will include 5 performances, each with its own highlight. The program will be opened with a grand opening, taking the audience back in time to the origins of the SEA Games and rekindling the passion for sports.
A key cultural highlight will showcase the rich diversity of the region and how it blends together into one. Another segment will focus on the strength and fighting spirit of the athletes, expressed through powerful choreography combined with modern performance technology.
Another notable highlight of the 33rd SEA Games opening ceremony is to celebrate friendship and “common victory” across Southeast Asia. The aim is to give viewers a deep sense of pride in Thai talent, creativity, technology, performance, music and sports.
Audiences can also experience immersive large-scale multimedia images, lights, sound and special technology effects, along with friendship and solidarity among the 11 participating countries.
One of the most anticipated moments of the opening ceremony was the performance of Thai K-pop star BamBam Kunpimook, who prepared a special program just for the ceremony.
Alongside this, there will be many other world- famous Thai artists, from beauty queens to famous singers and musicians such as Jeff Satur, Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri, Proxie, LYKN, BNK48 and Butterbear. All of them are expected to create performances that will inspire the audience.
The highlight of the opening ceremony is the lighting of the SEA Games torch in a new form, which is expected to become one of the typical images of the 33rd SEA Games.
The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20 in Thailand. The Vietnamese sports delegation will consist of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, and 19 experts, competing in 47 of the 66 sports, with 443 of the 573 events.
The head of the Vietnamese sports delegation is Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports.
The goal of the Vietnamese sports delegation is to win 91-110 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games, ranking in the top 3 of the medal table.
