Ca Mau: Promoting new technical solutions in HIV testing counseling and ARV treatment connection by 2025

On the morning of December 9, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Center for Disease Control of Ca Mau Province (CDC Ca Mau), the Center coordinated with the Project to End the AIDS Epidemic (EPIC Project) to organize a "Technical meeting to guide the implementation of HIV testing counseling activities, finding HIV cases and connecting ARV referrals in 2025".

Attending the meeting were representatives of the CDC Ca Mau Leadership ; representatives of the US CDC Office in Vietnam; along with officers in charge of HIV/AIDS prevention programs, officers in charge of ARV treatment referrals from the following units: Ca Mau General Hospital, regional General Hospitals and Medical Centers in the area .

Here , delegates listened to an updated report on the HIV/AIDS epidemic situation in Ca Mau province, the results of ongoing projects, as well as the effectiveness of testing consultation and treatment referral connection in recent times. At the same time , the conference also frankly acknowledged and discussed the current situation of ARV referral connection at facilities, analyzing the advantages and difficulties encountered in practice.

The focus is on providing technical guidance on implementing professional activities for 2025. Specifically, CDC Ca Mau and the EPIC Project have implemented new initiatives to increase access to services for the community, including: Implementing the distribution of HIV self-testing kits (this is an important new point to diversify testing forms) ; Guidance on access models such as PNS (sexual/injecting partner notification), SNS (social network), and encouraging self-disclosure ; Process of connecting and referring HIV-positive clients to ARV treatment services and high-risk negative clients to prevention services (PrEP).

Speaking at the meeting, the representative of the Organizing Committee emphasized the importance of reviewing procedures and improving the capacity of grassroots health workers . The synchronous implementation of new technical solutions will play a key role in finding new infections, bringing patients to treatment early, contributing to the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic.

Through this, the units agreed on a coordination plan and specific action plan to effectively implement HIV/AIDS prevention work in Ca Mau province in 2025.
