On December 9, information from the Office of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau said that the unit had submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval the Plan for implementing forest fire prevention and fighting tasks (PCCCR) in the dry season of 2025 - 2026. The plan was developed on the basis of compliance with the Forestry Law, the Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting and related regulations, to ensure the safety of existing forest areas and proactively respond to the risk of forest fires in the dry season.
Accordingly, the plan identifies key areas at high risk of fire, including the Melaleuca forest of U Minh Ha National Park in Da Bac commune (including sub-areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 61 and 63); Khanh Binh Tay Bac area (hamlets 2, 3) and Khanh An (sub-areas 72, 75, 76 and hamlets 15, 16); Khanh Lam area (Wartime Command Headquarters - Provincial Military Command); Nguyen Phich area with U Minh I, U Minh II, Song Trem Forest Farms; and 30/4 Forest Farm in U Minh district. Delineating key areas helps proactively arrange forces, means and organize effective fire prevention and control operations.
All 16 forest owners who are organizations, 1 community and 1,734 households and individuals have completed the development of fire prevention and control plans according to regulations. The Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Fire Prevention and Control Police Department to appraise and give comments to ensure feasibility and suitability to the conditions of each forest area.

It is expected that in early 2026, 3 training courses will be organized to improve equipment operation skills, firefighting techniques and coordination capabilities according to the "4 on-site" motto, ensuring a quick response force in case of an incident. Photo: Trong Linh.
Propaganda work continues to be strengthened in many forms to raise public awareness in forest protection and strict compliance with regulations on fire prevention and control. Forest rangers coordinate with local authorities and organizations to mobilize people in and around the forest to clearly understand fire forecast levels, fire ban regulations and safety requirements during the dry season.
The PCCCR infrastructure system is maintained and strengthened, including 89 reinforced sluices and dams to ensure water reserves; 74 fire watchtowers (65 solid towers, 9 mobile towers) to serve the purpose of observing and detecting fires early. Forest owners are responsible for managing, maintaining and effectively operating these works.
Inspection and training activities have been carried out since the beginning of the dry season. It is expected that in early 2026, 3 training courses will be held to improve equipment operation skills, firefighting techniques and coordination capabilities according to the "4 on-site" motto, ensuring a quick response force in case of an incident.
The implementation of the 2025 - 2026 dry season forest fire prevention plan is expected to contribute to proactively preventing, early detecting and promptly handling forest fire situations, protecting U Minh Ha forest resources and forests in Ca Mau province, minimizing damage to people, property and the ecological environment.
