Attending the meeting at the Vinh Long province bridge were comrade Nguyen Quynh Thien - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities.
As of November 29, 2025, ministries, branches and localities have completed 101/101 assigned tasks; 100% of existing fishing vessels of localities have registered and been updated on Vnfishbase.
For fishing vessels that do not meet operating conditions, according to local reports, they have been controlled and assigned to communes/wards, forces, and officers to manage the anchorage location. During the week, no fishing vessels violating foreign waters were arrested.
From 2024 to November 29, 2025, the total number of ships detected losing connection for 6 hours, losing connection for more than 10 days at sea, or exceeding the permitted exploitation limit is 21,870 ships; 100% of the results have been processed.
In Vinh Long province, departments, branches and localities regularly coordinate to combat IUU fishing, focusing on overcoming existing limitations and shortcomings in the past. Accordingly, 4,625/4,625 fishing vessels (accounting for 100%) have been registered and updated on Vnfishbase; 100% of vessels that lost connection for 6 hours, lost connection for more than 10 days at sea, and exceeded the permitted fishing boundary have been handled.
Since the beginning of 2024, Vinh Long province has not had any fishing vessels illegally exploiting seafood in foreign waters arrested.
To achieve the goal of removing the EC “yellow card”, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries and branches to review the 2017 Fisheries Law according to their functions to amend and perfect the legal framework for aquatic species management according to the yellow card recommendations of the EC and recently the US; promptly advise the Government to issue a specific Resolution on this field. Measures to combat IUU fishing in the coming time must be truly effective, with specific, substantial and certain handling results; consolidate the records of sanctions for violations or clear criminal handling for reporting and cross-checking when working with the EC.
