On January 17th, amidst the solemn and warm atmosphere of spring and the nationwide joy in anticipation of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation ( Petrovietnam ) and Binh Son Refinery and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company, held the inauguration ceremony for the STEM classroom at Tran Phu High School, Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City.

BSR General Director Nguyen Viet Thang delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, BSR General Director Nguyen Viet Thang emphasized: Da Nang is not only known as a livable city and a major tourism and service center of the country, but is also gradually asserting its role as a driving force for regional development, with the aspiration to become a national financial center, a center for innovation, science and technology, and entrepreneurship in the Central and Central Highlands regions, aiming for integration and reaching international standards. To realize that aspiration, Da Nang needs more than ever a high-quality workforce with scientific thinking, technological capabilities, a spirit of innovation, and the courage to integrate globally.

This human resource cannot be formed solely in university lecture halls or research institutes, but must be nurtured from the secondary school level, from the STEM classrooms that Petrovietnam/BSR has invested in schools – where students are inspired to explore, learn how to ask questions, and find solutions using science, technology, intelligence, and unlimited creativity.

BSR Company has been implementing 15 STEM classrooms in 5 localities: Dien Bien, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai and Dak Lak; of which, in Da Nang there are 3 schools: Tran Phu High School, Le Loi Junior High School and Le Thanh Tong Specialized High School.

BSR awarded 30 scholarships to students of Tran Phu High School.

“The STEM classroom at Tran Phu High School is not just a new classroom, but a space for students to explore, create, and nurture their dreams. Here, they can boldly ask questions, dare to experiment with new ideas, dare to make mistakes and dare to try again – all essential for growth in the digital age. On behalf of BSR, I hope the students of Tran Phu High School will strive to study well, continuously improving their knowledge and skills. Who knows, in the not-too-distant future, BSR may have the opportunity to welcome you as colleagues, working alongside BSR's engineers and scientists to operate and develop the Dung Quat Refinery,” shared BSR General Director Nguyen Viet Thang.

Leaders from the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, BSR, and Tran Phu High School inaugurated a STEM classroom.

Tran Phu High School is known for its tradition of academic excellence in Da Nang City. In the 2024-2025 academic year, the school won 188 awards in city, regional, and national-level competitions and contests for outstanding students, including 13 first prizes, 35 second prizes, 54 third prizes, and 73 consolation prizes; 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, and 11 bronze medals. In addition, the school successfully collaborated with the University of Technology – Da Nang University to organize the "Student Science Conference and Technology Exhibition for the 2024-2025 academic year".

To further enhance the quality of its advanced education, the school received a STEM classroom, covering nearly 120 m² and valued at 3.5 billion VND, built and donated by Petrovietnam/BSR. This modern, state-of-the-art facility meets international standards and serves STEM education, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The classroom is not only a place for teaching knowledge but also a place to inspire a passion for science, contributing to the training of high-quality science and technology human resources and global citizens. It provides students with opportunities to develop creative skills, critical thinking, teamwork, social responsibility, and entrepreneurial spirit, fostering innovation.

Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, shared that the "STEM INNOVATION PETROVIETNAM" program not only demonstrates a strategic vision but also clearly affirms the profound social responsibility of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation and Binh Son Refinery and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company towards the cause of education and training. The investment in building a STEM classroom at Tran Phu High School has created a modern learning space where teachers and students can directly practice, experience, and create with science and technology, in line with the principle of "learning by doing," linking theory with practice. Through this, students have the opportunity to apply their learned knowledge to solve practical problems, forming and developing core competencies, creative thinking, and science and technology skills.

During the inauguration ceremony, Petrovietnam/BSR also awarded 30 scholarships, each worth 3 million VND, to students of Tran Phu High School in Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City.

In 2025, BSR produced over 7.9 million tons of various products, achieving total revenue exceeding VND 142 trillion, pre-tax profit exceeding VND 4,540 billion, and contributing VND 14,250 billion to the state budget, further affirming its pivotal role in ensuring national energy security and defense. In the scientific research and innovation movement launched by the Petrovietnam Trade Union, BSR continued to assert its pioneering role, leading the entire industry in both of the most important categories: the highest number of registered innovative products and the highest total value of benefits generated. Specifically, BSR was assigned a target of 68 innovative products, but achieved 869 products, with a total value of benefits exceeding VND 34,893 billion – a significant figure reflecting the intellectual strength, innovative spirit, and dedication of BSR's employees.

Alongside its business operations, BSR has always considered social responsibility an integral part of its sustainable development strategy. Since its inception, BSR has implemented thousands of social welfare projects nationwide with a total value exceeding VND 1,000 billion, focusing on education, healthcare, poverty reduction, infrastructure development, and community support. Of this, over VND 450 billion has been donated to education, and in Da Nang City, from 2022 to the present, BSR has implemented social welfare programs worth VND 75 billion.
