This morning (December 9), Thanh Nien Newspaper organized a discussion: "Media training from Innovation to the New Era" with the participation of many leaders of agencies, universities, media experts, businesses, lecturers and students of many universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the seminar, leaders of departments, leaders of university training institutions, and communication experts focused on sharing new, breakthrough, and creative points of training institutions in journalism, communication, and public relations - especially in the context of the current development of artificial intelligence (AI). From the difficulties and obstacles in regulations, mechanisms, enrollment, and diplomas in communication training in practice, experts also made recommendations to improve the quality of training and human resources with ministries, businesses, and the media.

Notably, at the seminar, Dr. Do Trong Hop, Deputy Dean in charge of the Faculty of Software Technology, University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), shared a speech "How to really bring AI into media training?". Sharing about the question "In addition to AI, should data science be included in media training?", Dr. Hop affirmed: "The answer is obvious, it is not just a question but something that must be done in the current context."

However, according to Dr. Hop, the issue that needs to be emphasized more is how to really bring AI and data science into media training. Explaining the word "really", this expert said: "The school's desire is for students to not only use AI as a content generation tool (writing articles, creating photos, suggesting ideas); but at a deeper level, use AI to solve data-based communication problems. For example, students can collect and analyze social network data, analyze public opinion trends, write simple programs to process data to serve media campaigns and projects."

Also at the seminar, many leaders and experts continued to share new, breakthrough, and creative points of training institutions in journalism, communications, and public relations - especially in the context of the current development of artificial intelligence (AI). At the same time, opinions also pointed out difficulties and obstacles in regulations, mechanisms, enrollment, and diplomas in media training; Proposals and recommendations to improve the quality of training and human resources with ministries, businesses, and media. Some typical papers presented at the seminar: "Media training from Innovation to the New Era" such as: Training human resources in the media industry - challenges behind the boom; Teaching media in the AI era: what to teach and why?; The form of media in the new era; How to really bring AI into media training...

Dr. Do Trong Hop further analyzed that when applying AI to training media students, the school found certain barriers from the students. For example, the mentality of "I'm not good at technology", especially in social science students, causes them to limit themselves. The result is that students only stop at using available tools, not daring to touch data, analyze, automate, and do basic programming. Therefore, the school wants students to directly experience collecting, analyzing data and creating media products from data to see "they can do it", thereby moving from passive to active.

Delivering a message at the seminar, the Deputy Dean in charge of the Faculty of Software Technology at the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the ultimate goal of bringing AI into media training is not for students to "use more tools"; but to become creative process designers using technology; have critical thinking, understand the nature and limitations of AI; create original media products with personal imprints and social responsibility. "This is how we - at the University of Information Technology, understand the real need to bring AI into media training".
