Commitments and priorities of new Hanoi Chairman Vu Dai Thang

On the afternoon of November 28, with 100% of delegates present in agreement, the Hanoi People's Council elected Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of Hanoi said he was very moved, proud and deeply aware that this was a special honor and at the same time an extremely great political responsibility before the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Party Committee and the people of the city.

Emphasizing that Hanoi - the capital of the country with a thousand-year tradition of civilization and heroism, is always the pride of every Vietnamese person, Mr. Thang said that he was born and raised in Hai Phong City but always wanted to study and work in the capital Hanoi.

Mr. Thang also said that he has been attached to the capital since his university years and worked at the Ministry of Planning and Investment until he was assigned by the Politburo and the Secretariat to localities such as Ha Nam, Quang Binh and Quang Ninh for training and education. Now he is assigned to work in Hanoi and directly contribute to the capital, which is a great honor for him personally.

According to Mr. Thang, Hanoi is the heart of the whole country, the national political and administrative center, each decision is not only meaningful to the people of the capital but also spreads and leads the overall development of the country.

In organizing the implementation of tasks in the coming time, Mr. Thang emphasized that he will work with the City People's Committee to lead, direct, and manage socio-economic development, operate the two-level local government with the spirit of discipline, integrity, efficiency, and ensure transparency in all stages.

At the same time, improve management efficiency and effectiveness, act decisively and consistently according to the motto "clear work, clear people, clear time, clear responsibility, clear results", taking people's satisfaction and trust as the ultimate measure of operational efficiency, according to the new Chairman of Hanoi.

Mr. Thang said that in the coming time, he will focus on a number of key tasks such as striving to achieve the highest level of socio-economic development targets for 2025, striving for the growth target of 11% or more for 2026, creating a solid foundation for the entire new term.

Along with that, the new Chairman of Hanoi emphasized that he will promote decentralization and authorization associated with power control, continue to simplify administrative procedures, develop digital government, and take the satisfaction of people and businesses as the highest measure for the operation of the apparatus.

Mr. Thang said the city will reorganize urban space according to a multi-polar, multi-center model, with infrastructure one step ahead, considering infrastructure as the backbone to guide planning and development.

At the same time, focus on directing the handling of major, urgent issues facing the capital, especially the development of traffic infrastructure, preventing traffic jams, minimizing environmental pollution, solving urban flooding, urban development and beautification, land management, construction order and promptly resolving difficulties and problems for people and businesses.

The new Chairman of Hanoi also emphasized the need to preserve the culture and people of Hanoi, which are elegant and civilized, to conserve and promote the cultural, heroic and creative values of Thang Long - Hanoi, and to ensure social security goes hand in hand with the pace of economic development...

In his newly assigned position, the new Chairman of Hanoi pledged to maintain his political stance, strictly follow the leadership of the City Party Committee and the supervision of the City People's Council.

Mr. Thang also said that he will carry out his responsibility to set an example, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, be transparent, honest, put the common interest first and foremost; prevent and fight corruption, negativity, and group interests; be close to the people, respect the people, listen to the people, and take the people's lives, living standards, and happiness as the focus of all decisions.
