Leaders of the Department of Culture and Society of Cam Ly commune visited the pigeon farming model of Mr. Giap Van Huy. |
At this time, he was guided by local experts and taken to visit some pigeon farming models in the province. Realizing the opportunity to get rich, in early 2018, Mr. Huy registered to attend a livestock and veterinary training course. With knowledge, at the end of the year, he boldly invested nearly 600 million VND to build a barn and buy 1,000 pairs of parent pigeons to raise.
The model was effective, so he continued to invest in expanding the scale. Currently, with 3,500 pairs of parent birds, each month Mr. Huy brings 4,500 commercial birds to the market; after deducting expenses, he earns nearly 100 million VND/month in profit. "Having learned the trade, I have knowledge of disease prevention and treatment, so the flock of birds grows well and has a stable income. With my experience, I support nearly ten households in the commune to develop a pigeon farming model," Mr. Huy shared.
Cam Ly commune was formed on the basis of merging Cam Ly commune and Dan Hoi commune of the old Luc Nam district. In recent years, along with synchronous implementation of socio -economic development solutions, the locality has paid much attention to vocational training associated with job creation for rural workers.

With support to remove temporary housing and job referrals for her son, Ms. Duong Thi Huan's family escaped poverty. |
From 2024 to now, the whole commune has nearly 3,400 workers with new jobs; nearly 100 people have received vocational training. With skills and livelihood support, households have boldly changed their production models, bringing initial results.
Typically, thanks to support for breeding cows, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (born in 1984) in Hui village developed a breeding cow model, had more income, and escaped the list of near-poor households. Similarly, with support from the locality to eliminate temporary housing and connect and introduce jobs for her son, in 2024, the family of Ms. Duong Thi Huan (born in 1973), residing in Dam village, escaped poverty... "Previously, every year we had to mobilize resources to support Ms. Huan's family, especially during the lean season. Since the locality connected and introduced jobs for her son at a local business, the lives of Ms. Huan and her son have turned a new page," said Mr. Lam Van Sung, Head of Dam village.
In fact, thanks to attention to vocational training and support for job creation for workers, up to now, more than 90% of people of working age in the commune have regular jobs and stable income, contributing to poverty reduction and improving the quality of life.
To make vocational training and job introduction for rural workers more effective, right after operating the two-level local government, the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune assigned departments, branches and unions to propagate and introduce members to work at enterprises and factories in industrial parks and clusters in the province. Regularly update the recruitment needs of enterprises to inform the people; support households to access preferential loans to invest in economic development, vocational training and labor export.
With its responsibility, the Department of Culture and Society of Cam Ly commune has proactively investigated and surveyed the job-seeking needs of the people, and at the same time forecasted the job market to have appropriate support directions. It is interested in coordinating with specialized units, opening new vocational classes in line with the trend, especially those related to agriculture such as: Animal husbandry - veterinary, machine repair, garment processing..., contributing to improving the quality of rural labor resources.
