The locality also pays attention to and creates conditions for prestigious people to participate in grassroots organizations and receive training in agricultural and forestry production techniques. Thereby, they become a bridge to spread knowledge and experience in developing household economy .
One of the typical examples is Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lap (born in 1963), in village 19, Ea Wer commune - a person who is trusted and respected by the people. Not only is he a pioneer in mobilizing people to abandon bad customs, he also directly accompanies them in production and animal husbandry.
Whenever an epidemic broke out in the village, Mr. Lap traveled dozens of kilometers to report the incident to the authorities, request medicine, vaccines, and organize vaccinations. Taking advantage of the State's support programs for plants and seeds, he instructed people on techniques for growing high-quality corn, sugarcane, and rice, helping to increase productivity, ensure food security, and improve income.
Mr. Lap shared: “I have been attached to the village for decades. Only by changing the way of thinking and doing things can people escape poverty, have enough to eat and have the conditions to build more spacious houses.”
Thanks to the dedication of prestigious people like Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lap and the support of the government, the Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations, the movement to eliminate bad customs in Ea Wer has achieved many positive results. Evils such as fortune-telling, superstition, and child marriage have gradually been pushed back, giving way to a civilized and progressive lifestyle.
The reality in Ea Wer commune shows that when people are united, the government is close to the people and prestigious people play their roles properly, the journey of poverty reduction and building a new life will not be far away. That is also the path to preserving good cultural identity, replacing bad customs with knowledge and sustainable prosperity.

Mr. Duong Hung Phong - Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Ea Wer commune - said that in the first years of implementing the national target program, the locality encountered many difficulties due to limited awareness among the people and many bad customs still existing.
“However, every cadre, especially party members, set an example, practice, and improve their sense of responsibility. They become the driving force to help people change their thinking, gradually eliminate bad customs, and strive to become rich legitimately,” Mr. Phong shared.
According to Mr. Phong, Ea Wer commune will continue to promote propaganda work, mobilize resources for agricultural and rural development, and encourage people to participate in new production models, applying science and technology to increase income.
“We are persistent in our goal of rapid and sustainable poverty reduction, creating a better living environment for people in ethnic minority areas,” Mr. Phong emphasized.
