
The Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway has a total investment of more than VND 27,523 billion, including two component projects: the old Can Tho – Hau Giang section is more than 37km long and the Hau Giang – Ca Mau section is more than 73km long. The project started in January 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

According to VTC News Electronic Newspaper reporters, the connecting section between Can Tho Western Belt Road and Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway has been paved, awaiting the implementation of additional items such as line marking, lighting system installation and synchronous completion.

IC2 interchange connecting Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway with Can Tho Western Ring Road has basically completed the main items, the progress has changed significantly compared to 8 months ago.

The ramps leading up to and down the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway have completed asphalt paving and installed guardrails, and are waiting for road markings to be painted for synchronous operation.

According to records at the scene, the contractor's vehicles were able to move throughout the route to transport materials and serve the construction.

At noon, workers were busy constructing the negative slope project at the highway ramp area.

Compared to 8 months ago, the intersection between Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway and National Highway 61 has not changed significantly, the branches leading to National Highway 61 have not been graded with uniform crushed stone.

The overpass over Highway 61 has been completed with asphalt paving and median strip installation. The approach roads on both sides are still being filled with soil and crushed stone to complete the design.

The asterisk-shaped intersection connecting Can Tho – Chau Doc – Soc Trang expressway has completed the bridge girder and concrete bridge deck, the contractor is urgently paving the main route with asphalt.

Despite the prolonged rain, hundreds of workers and machines still worked diligently to ensure progress.

At the end of the project, through Ho Thi Ky commune, Ca Mau province, hundreds of workers and machines urgently paved the roadbed as the sun began to shine.

Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, said that as of November 1, the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project had completed 77.7% of the contract value, an increase of 8.5% compared to the time of the Minister of Construction's inspection in July, corresponding to an increase in construction volume of more than VND1,500 billion.

The priority section has reached about 84.8% completion, with clear progress in the categories of soft ground treatment, embankment, bridge and culvert construction and asphalt concrete paving. Culvert construction has reached 94%; all 95 bridges have completed their surface, of which 19 have been paved with asphalt concrete.

The roadbed, crushed stone and pavement projects are being implemented in a rolling manner, striving to complete the foundation in November; and complete the entire asphalt concrete layer and traffic safety system before December 19.

Along the entire route, My Thuan Project Management Board mobilized 1,297 pieces of equipment and 190 construction teams to work continuously in "3 shifts, 4 teams", and at the same time arranged technical staff on duty to promptly urge and handle arising issues, ensuring the progress of acceptance and payment.

The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway has strategic significance for the development of transport infrastructure in the Mekong Delta, promoting regional connectivity, socio-economic development and ensuring regional defense and security.
