The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the investor of Long Thanh Airport, announced on the afternoon of December 14th that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a central government delegation visited to inspect the project's progress and inquire about the well-being of the engineers, workers, and consultants working at the site.
According to the plan, a test flight will take place on December 15th from Tan Son Nhat Airport to Long Thanh Airport and then back to Tan Son Nhat, with an estimated flight time of approximately 40 minutes. The aircraft expected to be used are Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.
According to the design plan, Long Thanh passenger terminal will have an operating capacity of approximately 25 million passengers per year and 1.2 million tons of cargo.
Alongside the completion of runway number 1, the second runway is also being expedited after about six months of construction. This runway is 4km long and 75m wide.
From the groundbreaking date of January 5, 2021, to December 2025, a period of 4 years and 9 months, the shape of the country's largest airport has become clearer.
According to ACV, the technical flight milestones in December are considered an important test before the project moves to the testing, synchronization completion, and ultimately aims for commercial operation by mid-2026.
