Community collaboration is needed.

Ensuring food safety requires the joint efforts of all levels of government, sectors, and every citizen. The concerted efforts and involvement of the entire political system and society as a whole form a strong shield that significantly contributes to protecting the health of the people.

* Mr. Nguyen Van Nhut - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade:

Strengthen inspections of food production and business establishments.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nhut.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhut.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has identified ensuring food safety as a key task to contribute to protecting people's health and stabilizing the market. Therefore, the ministry has intensified its propaganda efforts through various forms such as: coordinating with press agencies, disseminating information on websites and social media, and especially encouraging supermarkets, shopping malls, and local markets to display banners and slogans; ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and protecting consumer rights. The department has also strengthened inspections and post-inspections at markets, supermarkets, and food production and business establishments. In particular, it has directed market management forces to actively implement measures to promptly detect and strictly handle cases of commercial fraud such as: trading in smuggled food, food of unknown origin, counterfeit goods, etc.

However, management still faces many difficulties, especially with the rapid development of online businesses and e-commerce platforms, which have posed many challenges in tracing the origin and managing product quality. In the coming time, the department will continue to innovate its communication efforts towards practical and accessible methods; strengthen post-inspection of high-risk food groups. At the same time, it will coordinate with localities to expand the model of safe food markets, tighten market management, especially online business activities, in order to protect the rights and health of consumers and build a safe and transparent food business environment.

* Mr. Huynh Quang Tu - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang Ward People's Committee

Promoting the supervisory role of the people.

Mr. Huynh Quang Tu
Mr. Huynh Quang Tu

As a major tourist center of the province, Nha Trang ward has more than 2,000 food and beverage businesses and services, including approximately 750 street food vendors. Over the past period, the People's Committee of the ward has issued numerous directives and plans to ensure food safety; assigning specific tasks to each specialized department. This includes focusing on propaganda, inspection, and supervision, especially during peak seasons, holidays, and Tet (Lunar New Year)... As a result, food safety in the area is generally ensured.

Despite the achievements, ensuring food safety still faces many challenges. The number of food businesses and food service establishments, especially street food vendors, continues to increase. Meanwhile, the food safety workforce is small; funding is limited; and inspection and post-inspection work is not comprehensive. In addition, some regulations on administrative penalties do not specifically describe the violations, making it difficult to handle violations…

In the coming period, the People's Committee of the ward will continue to promote communication, strengthen inspection and supervision, and strictly handle violations to raise awareness among people and businesses. In addition, it will encourage businesses to apply advanced quality management models to provide safe food for consumers. In particular, it will promote the role of the community in monitoring, detecting, and reporting violations of food safety regulations.

* Mr. Tran Van Can - Director of Au Lac Thinh Co., Ltd.

Associated with the reputation and sustainable development of the business.

Mr. Tran Van Can.
Mr. Tran Van Can.

Recognizing food safety as a key factor closely linked to the reputation and sustainable development of the business, the company strictly adheres to all legal regulations on food safety; implements food processing and preservation procedures according to standards; and strengthens training and improves professional knowledge for its staff. In particular, regarding food sources, in addition to legal obligations to suppliers, the company also periodically visits and inspects facilities.

However, nowadays, many businesses, driven by profit motives, often choose food ingredients of unknown origin, cheap and readily available on the market, to process and sell at low prices. This creates significant pressure and unfairness for legitimate businesses. Therefore, I propose that relevant authorities continue to strengthen inspections and checks, especially on food ingredient suppliers. In addition, it is necessary to promote awareness campaigns to educate consumers on choosing safe food. This will contribute to the sustainable development of the food service industry.

* Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Huong - Principal of Sao Mai Kindergarten - Do Vinh Ward:

Strict control over food sources in schools.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Huong.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Huong.

The school considers ensuring food safety a particularly important task, and therefore always strictly implements regulations such as: tightly controlling the source of incoming food, retaining food samples, maintaining a one-way kitchen flow, and regularly checking the processing procedures...

However, currently, food quality assessment in schools is mainly based on visual observation and subjective perception. Therefore, the school hopes that management agencies will tighten inspection and supervision of meal providers and food ingredient suppliers. At the same time, they should regularly provide training to improve food safety and nutrition knowledge for staff working in boarding and semi-boarding schools; and strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of food safety regulations in school kitchens. This will help schools organize meals for students and young children that are nutritious and hygienic, contributing to their health and development.

* Ms. Ho Thi Van Anh - a resident of Nam Nha Trang ward:

Develop business models that ensure hygiene.

Ms. Ho Thi Van Anh.
Ms. Ho Thi Van Anh.

Food safety is a major concern for the public, especially regarding street food and products sold on online platforms and e-commerce sites. What worries me is that despite inspections and enforcement actions by authorities, many establishments still fail to meet food processing and preservation standards, such as: food not being properly covered; food handlers not wearing gloves; and raw materials of unknown origin. Furthermore, many food items sold on online platforms also pose risks, such as a lack of information on origin, expiration dates, and safety certifications.

Based on the above situation, I strongly hope that the authorities will encourage and develop business models that ensure food safety standards and have clear identification so that people can easily choose them. At the same time, there needs to be a strict control mechanism for food business activities on e-commerce platforms, with regular monitoring, review, and removal of products that do not meet food safety standards.
